Ice-T vs. Soulja Boy Feud Rolls OnPublished by Marcus Vanderberg on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 6:51 pm.
Can’t we all just get along? The Ice-T vs. Soulja Boy feud rolls on and neither is backing down. By now you know that in a mixed tape Ice-T accused the 17-year-old of single handedly killing hip hop, called his music “garbage” and told him to eat a dick. Soulja Boy fired back on YouTube with a video saying that Ice-T (born in 1958) is old, behind the times and questioned the veteran’s career choices.
If you thought Soulja Boy wouldn’t own his words when the media’s cameras were on him, think again. “I’m the leader of the new school, you feel me?” Soulja Boy says when asked about the feud on a video running on tmz.com. “I guess he feels like he’s the leader of the old school. You know what I’m saying. I don’t know. I just know I’m the newest of the new and I’m the youngest of the young, you feel me? And everything I said in the YouTube video is true. I ain’t back down. I ain’t sugar coating nothing. I told it how it was. I ain’t backing down from nobody.”
Now Ice-T has released his own video in which he said he was merely replying to a question on about the state of hip hop and Soulja Boy and apologized for telling the teenager to eat a dick. And then he went off again. “Truthfully, a brotha of my caliber shouldn’t be talking down on a youngster your age. But as far as your music goes, it’s garbage. I’m saying that for all of hip hop.” Ice-T went on to say that Soulja Boy never should have responded but now that he has, look out. “When I diss you, there’s no ramifications,” Ice-T says to Soulja Boy. “You can’t hurt my career. I’m caked out. I don’t ever have to make another rap record. When you go against me you go against the whole West Coast. You go against all the OGs. And trust me, there will be ramifications, not from me, but from hip hop…You were supposed to take that. When old school brothas tell you something, you’re supposed to accept it and keep it moving.”
Kanye West was the first to take sides and went with Soulja Boy, writing on his blog that he has nothing against Ice-T or anyone else but, “ Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? N***** always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level s***… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas s*** if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new n**** get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this s*** fresh and original…. ain’t no f*****’ rules to this shit and that’s what real hip hop is to me.”
Who got Ice-T?
