To those of you who adhere to the adage, “spare the rod, spoil the child (and to hell with CPS)” take comfort in the Rev. Al Sharpton claiming that we need more fathers like Joe Jackson.

Yes, the Joe Jackson who has long been alleged for treating Michael Jackson like his personal piñata is being praised like a model father by an ordained minister.

While awarding him for his parenting skills, Rev. Sharpton said: “The arrogance of [people] attacking a man for being a stern father. I wish we had more stern fathers – then we wouldn’t be shooting each other up.”

No, they would spend the rest of their lives repressing their physical abuse through eccentric vises…and avoiding the psychotherapy they need.

In response to Sharpton’s praise, Jack ‘Em Joe said, “This feels great. I feel like I’m someone very special.”

alot of people disagree with the way joe jackson raised his kids but i don’t. while i don’t agree with everything he did, it is my belief that if he was anything different we wouldn’t know mike, janet or the rest of the jackson family. none of us are perfect parents & it is easy to wait for someone to do something & down grade them later!!!!!!!!!

I think that Joe did wrong by whipping his kids I know if they do wrong you have to punish them but by beating them you’re making them hate you and I don’t ever think I can sleep at night having my kids hate me and for some people whose thinking that beating your kids is teaching them leasons well no its not look at all those kids whose killing, breaking and entering, raping they must have learned that from somewhere so instead of beating them reach out to them tell them whats wrong or right and most of the kids you’re beating may hate you for the rest of your life. So think about what you’re about to do to your child before you do it cause you may regret it for the rest of your life see how michael did joseph and look how their relationship were.

I AGREE MR. JACKSON DID A GREAT JOB RAISING HIS FAMILY, THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH HIM IS HE SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE BOYS ALONE WHEN THEY GOT GROWN. I FEEL HE WAS BEING GREEDY WITH MICHAEL AND VERY CONTROLLING OF HIS FAMILY. THERE WAS A TIME FOR HIM TO LET GO BUT HE DIDN’T AND LOOK WHAT HAPPEN MICHAEL COULDN’T STAND BEING AROUND HIM FOR LONG AND CUT HIM OUT OF HIS LIFE. RIP. MICHAEL YOU WILL BE MISS.

I wish that Joe was my father, hell wish Rev. Sharpton was my Dad. Who are we comparing these guys to any way?

I think Joe Jackson did a great job too. I love Michael to death, but none of the other siblings have said anything negative about their father. Sometimes one of siblings can be more sensitve than the other. I think Michael had a more sensitve side than his brother’s. In the African American culture most fathers that stick around to raise their kids are disciplinarians and this is can be a good thing. African American do not believe in time out and go sit in the corner. I think kids today are out of control black or white and we need more Joe Jackson. Maybe we won’t have as much crime and Collumbine massacre.

well i think that mr.joe jackson did some good with micheal but,i feel that he did some harm too.he did not give him a chance to be a child so he missed that part out of his life.you can tell when he wanted to be peter pan and built the neverland park.he played just as hard asthe kids.he is gone now and we can not turn back the hands of times but if we could i think that micheal should of been allowed to live a nrmal childhood life and go at his on pace.it was already predestined for him to be famous or he would have not been born with all that talent ! God gave him a lot of talent and i hope he gave thanks to the man upstairs and not the man in the mirror.rip

had he not raise him the way he did he might have not been the Great person he was; I loved MJ like a brother.. but that don’t make the way Joe raise him Right

I believe that Jo Jackson did what he knew how to do to get the results he was looking for… Although, to the children at the time it may have been excessive but have you ever really look at your kid in the eye after you reprimand them? Every child think punishments are harsh, even though he may have went over board, he has not killed any of his children and when Micheal was going to trail for the child molestation case he was holding his father’s hand walking into the court house. Jo just may have not had an ability to show the type of love that most of us wish we could have seen in a family that The Jackson. Everybody has something that is not exactly perfect going on with them. Give the guy a break hi is 80 something years old…
