Eve’s Tax Trouble

Eve has joined the increasingly long list of celebrities who owe the government a bucket of money in back taxes.
According to The Detroit News – which cornered the market on exposing tax troubled celebrities – she owes in excess of $357,000 in back state and federal taxes.
In January 2008, the IRS in LA filed two liens against her, one for $242,245 and another for $56,597.
In January 2009, that same branch filed two additional lienes against Eve, one for $29,439 and other for $29,059.
And a month ago the rapper, actress, and aspiring designer placed her four bedroom, five bathroom Los Angeles mansion up for sale for $2,295,000.
In more legal trouble for Eve, it was revealed that she was a part of the federal government’s investigation into her ex-boyfriend, Teodorin Nguema Obiang, son of President (*cough* dictator *cough*) Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea.
Obiang is accused of setting up a number of front companies, including one in honor of Eve named Sweet Pink Inc. Though those companies he allegedly laundered hundreds of millions of dollars that were illegally diverted from Equatiorial Guinea’s gas and oil reserves.
So basically the federal government is gunning for Eve in one way or another.
As for Sweet Pink Inc., I can’t and you shouldn’t either.
