Grace Jones Accuses Lady Gaga of Jacking Her Style

Lady Gaga might be ruling the pop-airwaves but not everybody is ready to bow down. The legendary Grace Jones, for instance, is not impressed by Gaga’s gimmicks, especially when they look all too familiar: “You know, I’ve seen some things she’s worn that I’ve worn, and that does kind of piss me off,” Jones told the UK Guardian. (So we’re guessing Amber Rose and Rihanna are on her list too?)

When asked what she thought of the “Poker Face” pop star Jones replied, “I really don’t think of her at all. I go about my business.” Well then!

Turns out Lady Gaga wanted to collaborate with Grace Jones but the 61-year-old style trailblazer said no: “I’d just prefer to work with someone who is more original and someone who is not copying me, actually.”

Ouch!

Grace’s comments come hot on the heels of M.I.A. trashing Gaga for being a copycat. M.I.A told EW.com: “People say we’re similar, that we both mix all these things in the pot and spit them out differently, but she spits it out exactly the same! None of her music’s reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza music, you know? She’s not progressive, but she’s a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I f—ing do!”

Grace copied Labelle and Liberace though! Rihanna is more like Grace then Gaga too! Gaga is brilliant and I think the comment makes Grace look dated and rude!

Grace Jones needs to sit the f**k down. She aint did nothing big or important in years. I wish all these different celebs would stop being so negative towards other celebs doing something good. Everybody copies something from someone else. Just do u and make money. Don’t bring sombody else down cuz u aint on $~?#.

its obvious that gaga is influence by grace jones, but everyone gets their style from somewhere. people like grace jones started the movement, and i respect her for that, but its the job of artist of today like gaga and rihanna to take these styles and make them into something new. history repeats itself, so why are you mad that someone is inspired by you? you should be thankful!!!

Lady Gaga may have been influenced by the New York Punk scene moreso than Grace Jones. I’m pretty sure she didn’t even listen to her growing up. Furthermore, I think that it is impossible nowadays to be “original”. Every time that you think you are, you are offending someone who swears they did it before you. I know one thing that is hers (GaGa) that Grace Jones doesn’t hold a candle to- and that’s her PIPES! That girl can sing!

All you Gaga fans trying to say shes so “original” and hating on Grace. Grace is totally right she copied her style shes also copied Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Cher, Kelis and many more artists from the 80’s early 90’s. Shes a fraud and fake. If any of you look at her early pictures before she was famous she was very normal looking and dressed normal. Funny how shes totally change her image now. The only reason shes so popular and has been successful is because shes been stealing other people styles then trying to act like shes so “creative” its not coz of her “talent”. She will not last long because people will get bored of her wacky behaviour.

Yoruba Brown, Rihanna is already becoming irrelevant, so don’t get too excited, she ain’t here to stay. Gaga still has a long way to go before her stans declare that she is a legend of any sort. Nesley Filsaime, Grace Jones obviously did something “big and important” if she can be swagger-jacked by the likes of Rihanna and Gaga. Putting out an album every 5 minutes doesn’t make you relevant, making music that stands the test of time and that influences future generations does. Having a bunch of #1 singles and albums don’t mean sh*t these days, any idiot can achieve that with minimal talent, as long as you have a major label promoting the sh*t out of you, you can have success.
