Oprah Reacts to ‘So Called Biography’Published by Dior Noir on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 3:00 pm.
It was only a matter of time before Oprah had something to say about the the unauthorized biography about her! After all, writer Kitty Kelley airs out reports alleging Oprah abused drugs and questions the extent of the icon’s longtime claim of being sexually abused as a child–just to name a few of the book’s outlandish claims–and you knew the Big O wasn’t going to let that go without a comment.
On Monday the Daytime TV Queen wasted no time bashing the book when she presented an award to her BFF Gayle King at The New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards. According to People magazine, Oprah described Gayle as someone who “sometimes cares about my life more than I do,” and told the audience that this past week “was a rough one” for King when a “so-called biography came out.”
“Gayle got herself worked out with all my new daddies coming out,” said Oprah of Kelly’s claims in the book that Vernon Winfrey is not her biological father.
The audience had Oprah’s back and went off with applause as she smiled and said, “This, too, shall pass.”
Now that’s how you handle a scandal with class.
