Whomever is DMX’s publicist these days is doing an amazing job rehabbing the bad boy rapper’s image (Lindsay Lohan, put this guy on speed dial!). After cleaning up his act–both literally and figuratively–the once-addicted MC did a solid for a group of injured vets in San Antonio, by showing up for their wheelchair basketball game.

A fan at X’s Texas show asked if he would come by Fort Sam Houston, where the soldiers play before he left town, and the man actually kept his word and showed up. The 40-year-old rapper even got in a chair and played some b-ball with the group.  He later expressed how much of an impact the appearance had on him:

Darkman told TMZ, “It made my day as much as it did their day. One told me that I gave him the best early Christmas gift he ever got and that has me still smiling.”

I’m still giving the side-eye to some of DMX’s good deeds (voluntarily mopping up the floors a Waffle House? C’mon.), but props to Earl for getting his ish together. Maybe he can give lessons to some other celebs who desperately need them.
