While Beyonce and Jay-Z are picking up real estate like new pairs of shoes, other, less fortunate celebs are struggling to keep roofs over their heads. X Factor hopeful Melanie Amaro, a favorite to win among both fans and bookies, claims she’ll use her five million in prize money to buy her father’s $100,000, two-bedroom house in Sunrise, Florida, says RadarOnline.com. Unemployment and the dismal housing market caused Mel’s childhood home to go into foreclosure.

“She can do whatever she wants with the money,” her dad Hipolito, who is living paycheck-to-paycheck, said. “But she knows we think it’d be really nice if she can take care of us a little bit.”

Way to pull on the judges heartstrings, Mel! You know after last week’s debacle, Nicole Scherzinger won’t be able to resist this tale! We kid, we kid. Melanie is extremely talented and it’s great that she wants to help out her parents.

While Melanie will likely be going from broke to paid, once-rich football star Terrell Owens is moving the other way. After a terrible year laden with financial troubles, T.O. was able to dodge one bullet by managing to escape foreclosure and short-selling his 3,559-square-foot Dallas condo…for $350,000 less than what he bought it for. According to TMZ, a week later some dude with more cash than T.O. bought the place for $1.6 million. That’s gotta hurt.

Maybe generous Mel could help him out, too?
