VD Clause For Jersey Shore Cast MembersPublished by on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10:00 am.
Of all the contractual rules the cast of Jersey Shore is held to, none seems more out-of-left-field as a VD clause.
That’s right, writer/journalist Seth Kaufman, whose debut book is about the cynical business of reality television, told the New York Daily News about the clause from the contract which he says was given him by someone close to the show.
Titled “Health of Other Participants,” the clause reads (partially): “Producer hereby informs me, and I acknowledge and accept, that the other participants have not been screened for any diseases, sicknesses or other health conditions (and specifically have not been tested for any sexually transmitted diseases) and I assume all risks of interacting with the other participants, including any consensual contact.”
The clause is usually included in most reality show contracts. But it still sounds especially extra when its put on Jersey Shore.
