Rashida Jones Apologizes for John Travolta CommentPublished by Natasha Fierce on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 8:43 am.
Rashida Jones is a smart girl, but she made a boneheaded comment the other day in an attempt to out a high-profile celebrity. Now, the Celeste and Jesse Forever star is backtracking on her words.
Jones came under fire after telling SpinningPlatters.com that “it’s time” for John Travolta to admit his sexual orientation, and has since apologized via Twitter:
“Made a thoughtless comment about John Travolta,” she tweeted on Tuesday. “I sincerely apologize. Nobody’s personal life is my business.”
The Parks and Recreation star caused the stir when she suggested that the Grease actor, who is a married father of three, should come out. “Like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let’s do this.”
We’re glad Jones opted for a simple, sincere and direct apology rather than the typical celebrity cycle of “my comments were misinterpreted!” As far as we’re concerned, apology accepted, Rashida. Hopefully Travolta will feel the same way.
