Conservative Bloggers Blast Jamie Foxx’s “Racist” SNL AppearancePublished by Natasha Fierce on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 8:41 am.
Jamie Foxx is coming under fire from conservatives for racially-charged comments he made during his stint as host of Saturday Night Live. The Django Unchained actor did a segment of his monologue called “How Black is That?” which seemed to leave many right-wingers uncomfortable.
Describing his upcoming film, Foxx said, “I play a slave. Uh, how Black is that? And uh, in the movie, I have to wear chains. How whack is that? But don’t be worried about it, because I get out the chains, I save my wife, and I kill all the white people in the movie. How great is that?”
Conservative website Newsbusters raised a fury that Foxx made such comments about killing white people, asking if a white actor could have gotten away with saying something similar about killing Black people. We’ll let you figure out the irony of that observation on your own.
“This will probably win him another Oscar,” Newsbusters blogger Noel Sheppard says with unveiled contempt. Will someone pass Mr. Sheppard this note that says one can’t win Oscars for television sketch comedy performances.
By contrast, left-leaning website Mashable complimented Foxx’s performance, calling him “ultra-talented” and his monologue “hilarious.” You know what they say in the Black comedy world: if the right wing stuffed shirts ain’t mad at ‘cha, you’re doing something wrong.
