“Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” Song Causes School Lockdown

The fearful climate created by recent school shootings has even made singing your favorite sitcom theme song a dangerous thing.
A 19-year old Pennsylvania teen student was surrounded by police and taken into custody because a medical receptionist who called his home mistook the lyrics of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song as a mass shooting threat. The Ambridge High School student rapped the lyrics of the catchy sitcom tune for his outgoing voicemail message. When a receptionist called to remind the youth of an upcoming doctor’s appointment, she mistook the line, “Shooting some b-ball outside of school,” for “shooting some people outside the school.” Naturally freaked out, the receptionist called the police, who alerted the school district. The entire area was put in lockdown mode, while cops then searched for the teen.
The youth provided explained and was released after being questioned. A careful review of the voicemail was conducted and authorities determined he was in fact, singing The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song.
