Rodman Hopes North Korea B-Ball Match Helps Relations With U.S.Published by on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:30 am.
People may have not taken Dennis Rodman seriously after his first trip to North Korea, but now the former Bulls star is headed back to the Communist nation for a big game of basketball.
On January 8, the basketball star will be organizing an exhibition game between North Korea and team of ex-NBA players to mark the birthday of the country’s leader Kim Jong-Un.
Rodman said he hopes the all-star basketball game will help to improve relations between the two nations. “Sports is important to people around the world so I hope this is going to engage the American people, especially Obama,” he says.
Despite U.S. government warning for Americans not to travel to North Korea, this marks Rodman’s third trip to the nation. Who knew that the most flamboyant basketball player to date would go on to become an unofficial ambassador to two warring nations?
Believe it or not, Dennis Rodman is taking basketball where it’s never been before.
