Kenya Moore Blasts Porsha Stewart for her Underground Railroad ConfusionPublished by on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 10:00 am.
Anyone who doubted Kenya Moore’s ability to the be the voice of reason on the Real Housewives of Atlanta missed the reality’s star comments on her costar Porsha Stewart’s take on the historical Underground Railroad.
Here’s a recap for those of viewers of the Bravo reality series who may be living under a rock: the Georgia Peach ladies were on a Freedom Trail tour in Savannah, when Stewart blurted out that she thought the Underground Railroad was an actual train.
When the tour guide showed the group ventilation holes in a church floor and explained how, “people crawled under to escape slavery,” Porsha’s reply was confusion personified. “There has to be an opening for the railroad at some point,” Stewart said. “Somebody is driving the train. It’s not electric like what we have now.”
Moore lit into her co-star via her Bravo blog. “When Porsha was perplexed at how the train operated or ‘who went down there first to make room because they didn’t have electric trains like we do now,’ I became incensed…” Kenya said. “It was crystal clear that Porsha did not know that the Underground Railroad was not a literal train!”
But the former beauty queen didn’t just stop there. She continued, “It’s easy to laugh and call her dumb, but the reality is even more painful – WE have failed her. Our educational system has failed her, anyone who coddled her or encouraged her to focus on her makeup, weave, and shoes to find a man to take care of her rather than her education has failed her,” Moore said. “Anyone laughing at this gross ignorance has failed her.”
Finally, Moore made reference to Stewart’s late grandfather Hosea Williams, a prominent Civil Rights activist in Atlanta when she said, “Porsha is an embarrassment to her grandfather, his legacy, her family and most importantly, herself.”
