Tracy Morgan had some big news the other night at the Emmys: He and girlfriend Megan Wallover are engaged!
The 30 Rock funnyman made the announcement on the red carpet at the Emmys with Megan at his side. “We got engaged six months ago!” he told E! television host Ryan Seacrest.
Megan added some more choice details on the proposition: “We were in San Francisco. It wasn’t anything crazy, he was on bended knee.” Why does the thought of Tracy proposing on one knee make us laugh out loud?
Congrats, you crazy kids. Maybe Megan can make Tracy stop from going a little too over-the-top with the smack-talk. But a word of advice for her: Hold on to your organs, ’cause giving him one won’t necessarily keep him around—just ask his one kidneyed ex-wife, Sabina!

Check out the image above of celebrated actress Nia Long showing off her baby bump in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The three-time NAACP Image Award winner looks fresh and beautiful on the beach with her bundle of joy on the way.
Long, who is known for big-screen classics like Love Jones and The Best Man, has a career that has spanned over 20 years. The Brooklyn native is the mother of an 11-year-old son and can currently be seen in the critically acclaimed Mooz-Lum, which hit DVD yesterday.
Congrats to Nia Long from everyone at the BET family!

Jada Pinkett Smith is not just the lead actress of Hawthorne, the show that she produces with husband Will Smit. She’s also a children’s author, a sometimes heavy metal rock singer and mom to tween kid stars Jaden and Willow. With all these slashes, Mrs. Smith has developed after her name, it left me wondering: can this multi-talented dynamo do anything that will allow her to ever be as popular as her mega-watt successful husband? The short answer, probably not.
Will was the Fresh Prince and became Mr. Fourth of July. His extremely engaging personality translated to box office gold that has generated over a billion dollars. And while Jada was truly able to fully makeover her street-wise, tough homegirl image into a bonafide Hollywood wife, partner to a Tinsletown king and mom, her edgier, urban image still isn’t as fully translatable to a mainstream audience.
But perhaps the deal that seals the fact that Jada will forever remain in Will’s shadow is that every successful married couple in show business (especially with children) must contend with who will take rightful place in the white-hot spotlight—and which one of them will ride in the slower lane of fame. And usually showbiz audiences pick their popular favorites and follow them loyally to the movie theaters and beyond. For proof of this, just ask Denzel and Pauletta (who began as an actress) Samuel L. and LaTanya (ditto) and now yes, Will and Jada.

Karrine Steffans has another confession to make, though it’s hard to tell whether it’s to cleanse her soul or to prep awaiting fans (and the curious) for an upcoming project. Either way, the moment should warrant a deeper and, dare I say, admirable look at the former “video model.”
This week, the web and blogosphere was abuzz with video snippets of Steffans, covered only in bra and panties, ranting about, among other things, how “the vixen doesn’t exist” and that “it was all fabricated.” While she’s mainly referring to her debut best-selling memoir Confessions of a Video Vixen, we’ll never know if she’s referring to the title of the book (“I would have never named that book that”) or the titillating details within. Why? Because she never clearly states anything, except one unspoken fact: in offering you the attention-grabbing ingredient (sex), she gets your time and a chance to sell you the product of her soul. Which is ultimately what got her here in the first place.
Who could forget the stir and uproar her book caused in 2005. Confessions of a Video Vixen, with its explicit stories of sex with superstar rappers (as well as athletes, singers and actors), while exposing the dalliances of married celebrities, also opened a new industry for hip hop groupies—and wives, too. Books. Reality TV. Film. But, of all the star groupies who’ve come afterward, it’s been Steffans who still holds our attention. And for good reason—if not just for her body. It’s because her hustle has evolved into as much of a compelling tale of triumph as the rappers she’s slept with.
When she first debuted as an author, she was merely seen as a broke groupie trying to get paid off the fame of the music artists and athletes who supposedly used her. We’d never thought that, ultimately, she was a writer turning her hard knocks—both figuratively and literally—into a literary career. Kind of the way 50 Cent, fed up with the street life, turned his crack-dealing days and nine bullet wounds into a hip hop enterprise. Though now, after four successful books (not to mention her blossoming sex advice biz), we are forced to refocus the lens we see Steffans through because, like the music artists and athletes she screwed, she too has a bankable and soul-fulfilling talent that now touches the lives of a huge audience.
So it doesn’t matter if her Confessions were a lie or not. We’re going to watch, regardless.

One tabloid is declaring war between the two queens of pop
According to the National EnquirerBeyoncé has blasted Lady GaGa as a “selfish egomaniac.” They claim that Beyoncé felt Lady GaGa’s Grammy entrance was “over the top and ridiculously self-serving.” Their source added: “She’s telling people that she wants to take Gaga down a few pegs.”
Critics will quickly criticize the credibility of this story considering Beyoncé recently attended Lady GaGa’s concert at Madison Square Garden in New York.
And in a recent interview, when asked about new collaborators on her upcoming album, GaGa said; “I want to stand on my own two feet. I’ve already collaborated with my favorite female in the business.”
GaGa was referring to her collaboration with Beyoncé on the track, “Telephone.”
Though she said she was the “ill b—ch to a rock star,” Amber quipped, “No, I don’t think so. You know in every relationship you have problems and you try to work through and then sometimes things don’t work out.”
Another thing she’s certain about is her refusal to ever do a sex tape.
Amber asserted that she’s been offered a lot of money to do one, but opted not to. “I chose to take the high road and I feel like just because of my past and my profession and what I did in my past doesn’t mean that I [would do that],” Amber added.
As for talk that she was dropped from Ford Models, the budding model turned personality said, “I was not dropped from Ford Models, they closed their celebrity division and my contract was up.”
Amber boasted that she no longer needed the agency to book modeling gigs, and added that finding work without an agency saves her money.

By now, people should know Twitter rumors are as legit as a Britney Spears singing live. Within an hour of a fake and grammatically incorrect press release that read Omarion is a “respectable, mature, proud, bisexual man” — Twitter blew up with “confirming his bisexuality” as a trending topic.
Well, it was just more Twitter foolishness. A statement was released saying, “The previously released statement regarding Omarion is false and was generated for negative publicity by an unknown person. Omarion will not contribute to anything negative said or done against him. Omarion respects all of his fans, no matter religion, sexuality, or race.”
The former B2K member added on Twitter, “Check it out ‘I DID NOT RELEASE THAT STATEMENT’,whatever you like is your business but I AINT GAY OR BISEXUAL,I love women PERIOD!!!!!!!”
These Twitter rumors are getting ridiculous. They just recently tried to kill off Keenen Ivory Wayans. Here is a rule – don’t re-Tweet or believe it until it’s confirmed outside of Twitter!

It is with great sadness that we report confirmation that soul legend Teena Marie passed away at 54 years old. At this time, the exact cause of death is not known. TMZ is reporting she died in her sleep last night and had a seizure a little over a month ago. However, relatives of told TMZ they spoke to her that day and she seemed “fine.” Foul play is not suspected and looks like she passed of natural causes.
Lady T, as she was known, was born Mary Christine Brockert in Santa Monica, Calif. In 1976, she signed with the legendary Motown Records and her debut album, Wild and Peaceful, was released in 1979, garnering hits “I’m a Sucker For Your Love” and “Déjà Vu (I’ve Been Here Before).”
It was Marie’s collaboration with Rick James that catapulted her to superstardom; most notably, the duet “Fire & Desire,” which Marie performed for the last time with Rick James at the 2004 BET Awards.
Teena Marie had the unique experience of being one of few White artists to be so strongly embraced by the African-American community. She was a fixture in the early days of BET and always had consistent airplay on R&B radio.
On a personal note, I interviewed Teena Marie twice. She was just as I thought she would be — kind and down to earth. Back in May 2009 we talked about her latest album, Congo Square, and I asked, “When you get to heaven, what is the DJ playing?” — she responded with:
I’m sure it’s Aretha Franklin. I’m sure it’s something off the Amazing Grace album. Probably, Aretha Franklin “Wholy Holy.” I hope when Rick James went to heaven they played Aretha Franklin “Wholy Holy” too. He loved her as much as I did. I have a lot of beautiful moments riding around with him in his Rolls, me and him just playing Aretha all day.
Here is a clip of Teena Marie singing “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” from BET’s Celebration of Gospel in 2009.

Please send out your prayers to the legendary Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. According to WJBK FOX 2 News in Detroit, a family insider confirmed the “Respect” diva has cancer.
Just recently, Franklin, 68, had surgery, which was said to be successful. However, the National Enquirer reported the original diva has incurable pancreatic cancer. Aretha Franklin canceled all appearances through May 2011 due to medical reasons.
Our thoughts are with Aretha Franklin and her family.

According to TMZ.com, R&B star and American Idol season three winner, Fantasia Barrino, was admitted to Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville at approximately 9 pm last night. She was allegedly hospitalized for an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid. American Idol’s champ manager said the star was “overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention.”
Fantasia has always been an open book. Honesty, self-respect, and personal responsibility are values she wears proudly.
Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it. She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr. Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere.
He even took her there. One of Mr. Cook’s most redeeming qualities was his complete devotion to his children. Fantasia fell in love with Mr. Cook and believed that he loved her.
Fantasia and Mr. Cook dated on and off for about eleven months. The pressure of the constant media attention was hard on their relationship. Fantasia gave inconsistent interviews about the status of her relationship with Mr. Cook because sometimes they were on and sometimes they were off.
When they were on, they spent most of their time together when she was not traveling with work.
Fantasia read Mrs. Cook’s Complaint against Mr. Cook for the first time yesterday. She knows some of the allegations in Mrs. Cook’s complaint are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know.
Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.
Yesterday, she was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention. Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid.
Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon. Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured.
Fantasia will be stronger, smarter, and better for it. Her work has always inspired her and served as a source of strength. Her new album, “Back To Me,” will be released on August 24th.
Our thoughts are with Fantasia and we wish her a speedy recovery. Check out the video for one of our favorite Fantasia songs, “When I See You.”
