Basketball Wives Star Evelyn Lozada had the good sense to immediately end her marriage to Chad Johnson when she became a victim of a violent head-butting. But she admits she came dangerously close to staying in the union.

Evelyn told Access Hollywood, “I had physical scars. Obviously, I had to go to the hospital. I’m going to admit if there wasn’t, I probably would have went right back in that house and would have brushed it under the rug…” she says. “I wouldn’t have wanted the world to know.”

Now, Lozada will have to relive some of the most painful moments of her relationship with Johnson via season 5 of her reality show, Basketball Wives. Fans of the show will get an insiders view into the end of Evelyn’s short-lived marriage. And she thinks healing publicly is a positive thing

“I consider it such a huge blessing. Even though it was a very traumatic time for me…” Lozada says about her ex-husband whom she hasn’t had contact with since January.

“I’m moving on with my life. He’s moving on with his life,” she added. “I’m glad things are where they’re at.”

Go on girl!

Evelyn Lozada Takes Michigan Teen to Prom

Published by on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:15 pm.

(Photo: Maury Phillips/WireImage)

Once word gets out about the latest exploits of Evelyn Lozada, popular opinion should agree that when it comes to personality, heart and the “aww factor” the Basketball Wives star is a million miles ahead of  her ex-hubby Chad Johnson.

A few months ago, Lozada received a note from a high school senior, named Anthony from Bloomfield Michigan via Twitter. The teenager wanted the VH1 star to be his date for his prom. Lozada then made the star-struck youth’s ultimate dream come true; not only did she say yes to his request, but also provided lots of A-list extras for the evening. In addition to paying for her own airline ticket from Los Angeles, Lozada provided transportation for she and Anthony in a tricked out Denali, and then she splurged on a very fancy dinner for the both of them. Anthony reciprocated by buying Evelyn a corsage.

Lozada thought it would be a fun experience to attend the prom with Anthony, because she missed her own back in the day due to being pregnant. But the reality star more than made up for lost time, it was reported that Evelyn never left the dance floor all night.

Say it all together now, “Aww…”

Gloria Govan Wants to K.O. Shaunie O’Neal, Evelyn Lozada

Published by Natasha Fierce on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2:00 pm.

Gloria Govan is ready to get back in the ring. The fiesty Basketball Wives star wants to go a few rounds with some members of the series’ Miami cast, in particular Shaunie O’Neal and Evelyn Lozada.

“I think I’d use my moves on every cast member in Miami,” Gloria joked to EURweb.com. “I’d knock out Shaunie [O’Neal] first. I’d backhand the s*** out of Shaunie.”

She vows to go a little easier on some of her other co-stars. “Royce [Reed] and I had a moment… so I would wait for that. I wouldn’t knock her out; I’d probably just smack the s*** out of her. Suzie [Ketcham], I like, so that’s cool. Jennifer [Williams] just gets on my nerves, like her voice irritates me. So, I would try to take out her voice box.”

But Gloria seems to be saving her best punch for Evelyn Lozada. “Her whole face is irritating,” Govan says bluntly of the newly-single star. Unfortunately, Gloria’s comments about punching out Lozada couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Despite appearances, Govan insists she’s just kidding, and even comments on the controversy surrounding violence and bad behavior on the show. “The audience really wants [violence]. They don’t want to see us skipping down the street. They don’t want to see that. It’s unfortunate,” she says, adding, “you’ve got to bring those ratings and viewers.”

Still, be careful of throwing the first stone, GG. You know some of these ladies would be more than happy to finish the fight.

Tami Roman: I Acted Like a “Pure Fool” on Basketball Wives

Published by Natasha Fierce on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 8:29 am.

(Photo: Courtesy Wendy Williams Show)

Did Wendy Williams mix some truth serum in with the bottled water in the green room of her show? The talk show queen somehow got a cast member from Basketball Wives to—gasp!—take personal responsibility for her actions on the show.

Tami Roman visited Wendy’s couch on Tuesday and admitted to her bad behavior toward Kesha Nichols on episode 13 of Basketball Wives. “It was a difficult time because the truth of the matter is I can’t let what someone is saying behind the scenes … what they’re doing … how they’re acting drive me to that level of frustration,” Roman said.

And then came the straight talk:  ”At the end of the day the only person who I have to blame is me because I was the one who got up there and acted a pure fool—I’m openly admitting that—but I have since apologized to Kesha I have tried to take the responsibility behind my actions.”

But Tami’s not ready to take all the blame for the backlash against BBW. “A lot of people sit and point the finger and start boycotts and all of this other stuff, but nobody’s stepping up to the plate to mentor to help us,” she said. ”If you turn a camera around on anybody’s life for one day, everybody’s has a moment that they aren’t too proud of.”

The 41-year-old says she saw the light when she realized that her daughters, and probably all of their friends, indeed watch the show. “For me, I am raising my two daughters and this particular incident really taught me a valuable lesson … I wasn’t really acknowledging the platform that VH1 and Shed have offered me … I wasn’t really being responsible, you know,” Roman said, tearing up.

TR also dropped another bomb: she hinted that she may be leaving BBW altogether for greener pastures. “I just signed on to be a series regular for a new show, the network hasn’t made the announcement yet so I can’t really talk too much about it but you guys will see me actually doing a scripted program,” she said.

Watch out, Nene Leakes.

Ex-Basketball Wives Star: Being on Show Was “Sheer Hell”

Published by Natasha Fierce on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 9:39 am.

(Photo: Vivien Killilea/Getty Images)

Tanya Young is ready to kiss and tell. The former Basketball Wives star, who was on the Los Angeles edition of the show for one season, is revealing what it’s really like to star on the controversial series. And it ain’t pretty.

She tells the Daily Beast:

“I certainly don’t miss the environment I was exposed to while taping Basketball Wives. It was both toxic and controlling. Women were not allowed to communicate after shooting a scene; women were chastised as if they were children; high-ranking executives would childishly ignore cast members on the set; and producers would ‘ice’ cast members from working when they wanted to garner more outrageous conduct from them,” says Young. “Despite the ‘friendships’ portrayed on the screen, some producers purposely planted seeds of discord between the women, and told outright lies, hoping that conflict and drama would ensue.”

Young reveals that when fights break out on the show (which frequently happens), even if producers step in to break them up, cameras never stop rolling. When a fight broke out, “the producers struck ratings gold — and they knew it.”

She goes on:

“Tami Roman of Basketball Wives Miami suffered a mild heart attack; marital relationships have deteriorated; and long-term friendships have morphed into childish rivalries. More important, these women in designer shoes, carrying expensive bags, with flawless makeup and perfectly weaved hair, have been reduced to water-throwing, filthy-mouthed, table-running, “b****-slapping” lunatics. ”

Young is just the latest person to jump on the anti-BBW bandwagon. A petition endorsed by Star Jones to get the show off the air is gaining steam, sponsors have already started pulling their support and even ratings have taken a blow. Cast members Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams have been in the center of the firestorm for their lawsuit-sparking feud.

Could it be possible that the days are numbered for TV’s fiestiest housewives?

Laura Govan and Shaunie O’Neal are So Over

Published by Natasha Fierce on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:00 am.

Basketball Wives LA star Laura Govan is ready to sever ties with Shaunie O’Neal, but she’ll still cash her checks. The star of the LA reality franchise tells J’Adore magazine that she and series creator O’Neal are dunzo, after Shaq’s ex accused Govan of getting down with O.P.P. in 2010.

“I don’t have a relationship with Shaunie and I never will. The information she was given about Shaq and I was false, and she took it and ran with it,” Govan says, referring to the rumors that she hooked up with Shaq while he was still married to Shaunie.

“I didn’t appreciate it at all and for that reason I will never speak to her again. I don’t have beef with her. If we see each other, I won’t chin check her, but that’s why I chose to do Basketball Wives LA. I wanted people to see exactly who I am opposed to what you heard on Season One: Miami. I mean, there were five grown women talking about me and they had no idea who I was. That was unfair, but it goes to show you where their mentality was.”

Well, at least Govan is smart enough not to chin-check her boss. I would say trashing her in the press isn’t the brightest move either, but as far as I know, no reality star has ever gotten fired for starting a good street fight.

Whether or not Govan will return to Basketball Wives LA isn’t clear, but if rumors that her fiance Gilbert Arenas will be signed to the Lakers are true, then that could tip the balance. As could a walk down the aisle, for that matter.

“We love each other,” says Laura of her on/off relationship with Arenas. “Yes, we have our ups and downs, but we have four kids together and like I tell most people, we are doing better than most married couples. We’re not announcing the date yet. When we do, it will be small and intimate. We actually got engaged three years ago. That ring that everyone saw is three years old. If anything, he needs to upgrade that ring. We’ve been together for 10 years.”

Ten years together, four kids, three years engaged and still no wedding date? What could these two possibly be waiting for…a sign from Jesus? Another kid to start their own basketball team? An E! special?

New Obsession: TLC’s Upcoming “Preacher Wives”

Published by Natasha Fierce on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:00 am.

(Photo: REUTERS/Seth Wenig)

Praise the genius that came up with this idea: TLC announced that it has partnered with True Entertainment–the production company behind The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Sister Wives–for a new series called Preacher Wives.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series will not only follow strong-willed Atlanta women as they play out their role as preacher’s wives in the congregation, but also give a view of their home lives and how they balance both roles.

Can I get a hallelujah? Finally, a show worthy of filling the void left in our lives by the season end of RHOA. If PW comes close to the train wreck circus True Entertainment pulled off with it’s other hit shows, I’ll be clearing my prime time schedule in advance.

No premiere date has been set for the series, but us believers will be waiting for it like the Second Coming. If the network airs the show on Sunday mornings, can it count as going to church?

Meeka Claxton Benched as Basketball Wife

Published by on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 10:29 am.

(Photo: VH1)

Lovers of Basketball Wives, get ready to do without a cast member. Starting next month, when shooting of the reality series begins, Meeka Claxton is off the show.

According to TMZ, sources involved with production said that the ex-wife of NBA player Speedy Claxton has been uninvited. Also, she “hasn’t even heard from producers since the reunion show was taped a few months back.”

What sealed the deal for Claxton? Producers became fed-up after she sued fellow cast member Tami Roman. And Roman, in turn, said that she would not return to the series if Meeka did.

Guess we know who’s the new MVP of Basketball Wives. If producers are that willing to bend in the direction of the wrathful Tami, then she must now be considered ratings gold. Even more reason to anticipate season four.

Sandra Speaks Out On Basketball Wives

Published by Runteldat on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:50 am.

Despite being demonized on the show, I liked Sandra on Basketball Wives.

She seemed to be putting many of those women in their place — which is probably why water was being hurled at her at every turn.

Since she didn’t get to completely explain herself at the reunion show, Sandra took some time to speak with Baller Alert about the basketball “wives” who continuously shade her.

What reaction would you expect from a man’s wife after you told her “your husband doesn’t give a f–k about you”?

There was so much more to that conversation that was edited out, because it would have given away the fact that Jennifer & Eric’s marriage is a set up situation. That’s why she’s dealing with everything and anything because she gets what she wants most out of it, & that’s the lifestyle (and the Chanel bags off course! LOL) And when this woman walks around on a high horse & with a stick so far up her a– that she’s convinced of her own false reality but has the nerve to defame & slander my name, she’s going to be told the truth & reality of it and as everybody has seen on the show, on cameras, from her own husband , HE DON’T GIVE A F–K ABOUT HER !!!! But I’m sure its not news to her, and as long as her gold digging self is able to have the lifestyle & perks, she’s not going ANYWHERE no matter how disrespected she is in her face by her husband!!! Oh well, some people will sell their soul for some money…

Have you had any interaction with the cast mates after the show aired?

Na, no interaction w the chicks from the reunion!! Seen Jennifer (the MARRIED ONE) all up on a football player & Evelyn all up on an actor, but they knew better than to come around us!! Suzie (the punk a– that throws water & runs) has been in hiding, she heard by now I got the whole city behind me!!! They really got the wrong one for this mess of theirs!! There’s only 1 person from the show I’m friends & keep in touch w/ my girl Vanessa Davis (who got set up by that snake Suzie & the hateful Evelyn). And she is a REAL BBwife, who by the way has NOTHING to do with the release of Evelyn’s naked pictures!! And I know this for a fact!!!

They ought to add her to the cast. She can replace Gloria Govan.

Basketball Wife Arrested During Reunion Show Taping

Published by Runteldat on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 12:00 am.

suzie_ketchem

Considering there was never a dull moment on the first season of Basketball Wives, it shouldn’t be surprising that the reunion people was just as contentious.

On the other hand, no one expected anyone to get arrested.

But that’s just what happen to cast member Suzie Ketcham after an on-camera confrontation turned so ugly that the LAPD had to be called.

According to Radar Online, Sandra – the infamous “groupie” that had her face accosted by Suzie’s drink on a previous episode – appeared and all hell broke loose.

A source explained:

“Suzie got really p—– off and just got up and left, but not soon after, she came back with a huge bucket of water and threw it at Sandra. Sandra tried to run away, but in the process, she slipped in the water and fell,” recounted the insider.

Sandra was hurt to the point where paramedics were called in. She was treated on set and ultimately the venue was locked down until police arrived to arrest Suzie.

Can’t wait to see that footage.

In other Basketball Wives news, Gloria Govan’s boyfriend, Matt Barnes, ought to loko into his keyboard privileges being revoked.

The Orlando Magic player dug at Shaunie O’Neal after the finale via Twitter.

Here’s what he had to say:

barnes-shaunie-tweet

Matt, if you’re that “disgusted” with the show then leave it alone or let your woman fight her own battles. That’s not what’s up.
