Apparently folks don’t know how to take a joke, as Kanye West has learned in the past week.
Tuesday night the rapper hit NY hot spot 1Oak when a model asked “Are you Kanye West?” He replied with a smile, “No, my name is Louis.” (a nod to his “Louis Vuitton Don” moniker, no doubt). Easily fooled, the lady chuckled, “Damn, you should be an impersonator and work in Vegas. You should be getting paid.” Kanye joked back, “I’ve been to Vegas. And, oh, I get paid.”
It wouldn’t be the first time someone hasn’t gotten Kanye’s humor lately. The media was a buzz with reports that he was trying to start beef with Britney Spears when he Tweeted after realizing his song “H.A.M.” featuring Jay-Z trailed on the charts in the No. 2 spot after the pop star’s song “Hold It Against Me”: ”Yo Britney, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z’s single is one of the best songs of all time! LOL.”
Shortly after the reports began likening his Tweet (which was obviously tongue-in-cheek) to the Taylor Swift fiasco. Kanye got pissed and went on a Twitter rant for about an hour:
“Just saw that MSNBC said I tried to start a twitter war with Brittany. This s— takes the air out my lungs sometimes from blogs to news reports … enough already!!! All I do is focus on my work… There’s a new lie everyday… a new media spin.”
Kanye, I’mma let you finish but really dude, isn’t it clear by now that the people don’t find you funny? Why not just hush and get the last laugh as those album numbers (and dollar signs) continue to soar.

To those of you who may have wondered if Britney Spears was calling Rihanna for advice, fret not. The story about her being beat up by her boyfriend/ex-manager has proven to be false.
Star magazine claimed they had photographic evidence along with audio of Britney telling her ex-husband that she was beaten up by her man.
Her reps deny this and now say they’re planning legal action.
Via E! Online:
Rudolph said Britney’s camp is already planning legal action against the rumormongers, something corroborated by Andrew Wallet, one of Spears’ conservators.
Britney’s website followed up, calling every aspect of the Star story “completely and utterly false.”
“The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years,” the site read. “The audio recording posted on Radaronline this morning purporting to be between Britney Spears and Jason Alexander is so obviously fake as to be laughable.
“Suffice it to say, that Jason Trawick has never laid a hand on Britney. This is just another example of the irresponsible nature of the tabloid media relying on shoddy sources and false information for the sole purpose of selling magazines, without regard to the truth and without regard to who they hurt in the process. These irresponsible statements are defamatory and Britney Spears’ legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties.”
Now I can go back to sleep at night.

Out with the old in with the new! Reps at Jive Records have confirmed that Jordin Sparks will be replacing Ciara on the second leg of Britney Spears’ North American “Circus” tour. Both Ciara and Jordin are signed to Jive, but the label hasn’t given any reason for the switch.
“Britney’s show is incredible and for me to be a part of it is a great opportunity,” Sparks said in a statement. Sure is! That’s great exposure for the American Idol winner but I wonder why Ci Ci got the axe? Could this replacement have anything to do with the southern singer’s lackluster album sales?
Ciara’s rep has said that she may pop up on a few dates in the future, but nothing has been confirmed. Doesn’t look like we should be holding our our breath.
Leg two of “Circus” kicks off August 20th in Hamilton, Ontario and ends on September 27th in Las Vegas, Nevada. A press release on Spears’ official website, also stated that opener Kristinia DeBarge will continue to perform on all dates while up-and-coming acts Girlicious and One Call will appear in select cities.
I’m not sure that Ciara would’ve made sense preforming in that lineup anyway, but either way the show must go on!

There’s been some rumors swirling around that music producer Dallas Austin has spending time getting cozy with pop tart Britney Spears. Last week Page Six reported that the two recently spent time at Austin’s house in Atlanta where, “It was just the two of them for a few nights.” The duo “discussed music, life, and work.”
A rep for Austin denied any kind of romantic relationship between the two celebs, insisting that they are “good friends and have been for a long time” (yeah like we’ve never heard that line before) but then Austin went to Twitter and said: “I do love Britney spears hope it doesn’t cause us problems… know u guys probably seem the gossip by now…”
So are the two really an item? Britney has supposedly been dating her agent Jason Trawick and some reports accused Austin of spreading the rumors for publicity (though he shot back again on Twitter today saying: “If I was gonna make up a story it would be about me and Megan Fox“).
I wouldn’t go looking for the next celebrity mega couple, but I wouldn’t be surprised if “what happened in Atlanta, stays in Atlanta” either!
