The Ochocinco family are getting off to an uneven start, at least in name.

When Evelyn Lozada and her NFL star fiancé got married earlier this month, she took on Chad’s superstar last name, Ochocino. Only, a few weeks after the nuptials, Chad — in a move he decided before the wedding— switched his name back to Johnson.

Evelyn planned to also make the change to Johnson, but after they were married. The only problem is Lozada has not received her official marriage paperwork yet. And she can’t legally change her name to match Chad’s until it arrives.

Making matters even more complicated: TMZ reports that Chad still wants Ochocinco to be part of his name, and that he’s adding it before the “Johnson” the following football season.

So when the name game is over, he’ll be Chad Javon Ochocinco Johnson and she’ll be Evelyn Alexandra Lozada Ochocinco Johnson… and we’ll all be fatigued trying to remember the monikers.

But, honestly, a name tied to the man’s family history suits a newlywed couple better than one tied to his Jersey. Smart move, Chad. Now let’s see about having some kids.

We’re not sure what Evelyn Lozada gave up for Lent, but she looked like she was making up for lost time at a Miami strip club on Easter Sunday. The Basketball Wives star, and soon-to-be Mrs. Ochocinco Johnson, dropped two G’s worth of singles on the lovely ladies at G5 over the weekend. She also worked her own assets at the club, according to TMZ’s spies. No word yet if cameras for her upcoming reality show Ev and Ocho were part of her entourage.

Sounds like Evy had a good time showing the boys how it’s done.

Don’t be surprised to hear reports of Evelyn Lozada hurling one of those high-priced stilettos Chad Ochocinco bought for her at his head in the not-too-distant future.

It all stems from an allegation by a young woman claiming to be the 22-year-old football player’s real girlfriend.

The 19-year-old woman named Paige says she is three-months pregnant with his child and that the relationship he has with Ms. Lozada is all for show.

She made these allegations during a call into the Miss Jones show on Philly’s Power 99 station.

People have long suspected that Evelyn and Chad weren’t the real deal and were only looking to get their own reality show. Evelyn even admitted recently that Chad didn’t propose marriage himself. No, he just had a driver show up at her doorstep with some shiny diamonds.

Well, you know what? We don’t know Paige from Precious, so as far as we know this girl could be lying to get her own 15 minutes.

Until I hear Maury Povich yelling “touchdown” to this would-be Chad baby-mama, I think we should let him and Evelyn continue fawning over each other for the cameras in peace.

Many black women rolled their eyes at the premiere of Chad Ochocinco’s reality show, Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch, given that it confirmed previous rumors that very few black women are to be found in Chad’s pool of love.

Chad has since started to discuss the criticism – on The Wendy Williams Show – and now in an interview with Essence.com. Here’s  some of what the football star turned football Flavor Flav had to say.

On the criticism he’s received:

“I don’t understand why. Those who know me didn’t think twice about it because they already know how I am. I deal with all types of women. My mind set is that I think outside the box. I’m all over the place and I want to experience everything. There’s nothing wrong with [Black women] at all.  If I did it the way they wanted though, there still would have been something to fuss about. It’s a lose-lose for me because no matter how I do it, there’s going to be an argument. I did Wendy Williams yesterday and I said for those who are offended about it, I apologize.  But if you ever run into me, you’d date me.”

Humble man is he.

On if he was surprised by the criticism:

“I can’t do anything about that. I’ve never heard other races complaining about their men dating outside of their race besides Black people. I hate that we continue to pull that race card.”

I hate when black people don’t know what they’re talking about. Ever hear of lynchings or the fact that miscegenation used to be illegal, Chad? Know of which you speak before spouting it out.

On whether he or not understands where some black women are coming from:

“Yeah, but I still can’t appease you. I have a preference. I’m not trying to appease you on my show. I’m trying to find happiness for me and it doesn’t come from just dealing with one type of woman. “

On his preference:

“Black, White, Chinese, I don’t care what you are. If you put a smile on my face, I don’t want much.”

He’s free to date whomever he wants, but black people are not the only people who complain about interracial dating. That’s ridiculous.

Congratulations, Chad Ochocinco. You’ve only just started filming your reality show and already you’re producing controversy.

One contestant for The Ultimate Catch says the football player doesn’t cut for the women of color.

She shared her story with the YBF in an e-mail.

Here’s an excerpt:

“Long story short, Chad has identity issues and primarily chose Latinas and white girls (mostly brunette’s). Many of the black girls were eliminated right off the back (including Rabbit from Real Chance of Love)<– might I add Cali made a cameo as well. I managed to make top 30 before getting eliminated.”

On how Chad would get rid of the black girls:

“One by one, Chad starting pulling black girls aside and telling them “bye.” During my stop for a cup of water, Chad called me over along with a group of six girls; 5 black and 1 white. He then said “umm… you guys are eliminated… uh.. yea–yea eliminated–Except for you.” And guess who he pulled out the group? The white girl.”

And a member of the production staff also chimed in:

When Chad arrived on set yesterday, he saw a mixed variety of nationalities that the producers had already pre-selected…five black girls, 5 spanish girls, 6 white girls, and a girl of middle eastern decent. He seemed rather upset and acted irritated. The producer felt that that he was unhappy and after talking to them off air, Chad wanted to revise the list of the pre-selected girls. He wanted to send home all of the Black girls and replace them with some of the Caucasian and Hispanic girls who were actually extras on set.

After not having picked any Black girls to remain on the show the producers pressured him into picking at least two. Chad, in turn, chooses the two most GHETTO girls there to represent the us. And by ghetto…you know the ones cause black men to say that’s the reason they don’t date black women anymore.

Oh boy.

Monica appeared on Chelsea Lately and talked dating, family, and music.

On rumors that she’s dating Chad Ochocinco after he started publicly flirting with her:

“He flirts with everyone. He’s a really sweet guy and he was in my video so people had their whispers for a second, but I think they realized that [the flirting] is just a part of his personality. He flirts with everyone. It’s no big deal. You don’t have to worry about me.  I’m not in the way, ladies. I’m a non-issue. ”

Monica added, “I’m a serious girl. I’m looking to get married. I have two small children.”

When Chelsea Handler joked about her disclaimer sounding like an ad for Match.com, Monica mentioned the importance of putting everything on the table up front:

“You have to kind of promote all of your issues at once so that [her children] is that one. That way it’s no confusion so I won’t have to regress to my old ways and get upset.”
