Sunday night’s Emmy Awards have been criticized for its lack of diversity by TV fans and celebrities alike, but no one had harsher words for the telecast than Damon Wayans. The actor and comedian fired off a series of tweets during the awards show, which he called a “celebration of whiteness.”
“Has anyone Black won any gold tonight?’” he started off by asking, later adding, “it’s a damn shame there are more Black people in the White House than there is in the entire prime time TV line up in network and cable television!”
He continued his live-tweeting rant with, “this is America and we all contribute to it and that is not reflected in the Emmys.”
He saved his most damning comment for the end of the telecast, after both Don Cheadle and Kerry Washington lost out on awards. “The networks are confusing Americans that people other than whites don’t exist or matter.”
Indeed, this was the second year in a row without a single Black winner for any acting award, despite a number of actors of color headlining popular shows. Washington was believed to be the frontrunner for the Best Actress in a Drama Series award — she would have been the first Black woman in history to win — but lost to Homeland’s Claire Danes, who took home the prize for the second year in a row.

Jamie Foxx might joke but apparently he doesn’t play! The actor/singer/comedian was spotted knucking and bucking at Usher’s pre-Grammy concert in Hollywood last night.
Folks who saw the fight told TMZ that Jamie was in an exclusive lounge area near the stage when people started pushing and shoving. Allegedly, someone took a shot at Jamie and he threw a punch right back to defend himself.
Some unnamed sources around the web that claim to be inside described the altercation as a “knock down drag out fight” but Damien Dante Wayans (nephew of Damon and Keenan Ivory) went on camera and described the fight as “a little altercation between two friends.”
Hmm maybe we’ll have to blame that one on the alcohol (that was too easy, I couldn’t resist).
At the end of the night, they say the cops weren’t called and nobody was hurt, but remind us not to get too close to Jamie if we’re ever in the club with him.

Talk about a fatal attraction!
Remember Jennifer Freeman the actress who played the bubbly daughter of Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell-Martin on My Wife and Kids? Well the chick may not be as innocent as she looks! According to TMZ her husband, NBA player Earl Watson, filed for divorce after he alleged she viciously attacked him earlier this month.
According to Earl it all went down when Jennifer received a suspicious text message at 11PM and he decided to check her phone. He says she became so furious when she found out he the phone that she opened up a can of whop ass and hit him “forcefully twice in the face with her right open hand.” Watson claims Jennifer then “grabbed my right wrist and bit … breaking the skin, leaving teeth marks and drawing blood.” Once she let go of the wrist, Watson claims she started biting his chest and drawing blood. Chile has been watching way too may vampire shows!
After she got finished chomping, Earl claims Jennifer tried to attack him with an iron, although he was able to knock it out of her hand.
Damn! I wonder what she was trying to protect in those text messages that made her kirk out like that!
The couple, who married in May 2009, has a 10-month-old daughter.
Apparently all’s well that ends well, because Watson ultimately decided to withdraw his petition for divorce and is planning on working it out with his wife. After all that I’d be scared to see what she’d do to him if he did leave!
