Prior to late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel marrying Molly McNearney in Ojai, California on Saturday July 13, Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibestole the wedding ceremony spotlight. As guests, who included A-listers Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Garner, watched for McNearney as the music cued the bride’s entrance, they got the biggest surprise of all.
“Everyone was standing up when it was time for Molly to walk down the aisle, but instead of Molly, Gabourey appeared and…walked down the aisle,” a source told US Weekly. “It was so funny! Jimmy was 100 percent completely surprised — he had no idea.”
After the joke ran its course, Sidibe, who was dressed in a white wedding gown then slipped into a red dress and McNearney married Kimmel in a 20-minute ceremony. Kimmel might be in for a lot of laughs in this union. His new wife, a co-head writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, reportedly set the whole prank up.
And apparently it was the joke that kept on giving. When Kimmel’s younger brother toasted the newlyweds later that evening he began by saying, “I am John, brother of Jimmy and brother-in-law of Gabourey Sidibe…”

Though Mariah Carey herself still refuses to comment on pregnancy rumors, that doesn’t mean other people who know her can’t speak on it.
Mariah’s Precious co-star, Gabourey Sidibe, spoke to Us Weekly about the possibility of Mimi becoming a mommy.
On the pregnancy rumors, Gabby explained that she wasn’t at all shocked when she heard it.
She said: “As soon as anyone gets married, everyone’s like, ‘Have babies!’ I’m like that. As soon as my friends get married, I’m like, ‘When are you having babies? Have babies already!
When asked if Mariah will be a great mom, Gabby said, “I have faith that she will be. She’s pretty loving, and she’s very nice.”
Nick Cannon has yet to confirm whether or not he’s expecting his first child with his wife, but Us Weekly joins other publications who are reporting that Mariah is in the beginning stages of her pregnancy.
Will she be funny though? Zoe Kravitz, who shares the screen with Gabby in the upcoming movie Yelling to the Sky, told Pop Eater that Oscar nominee is “so funny” despite her serious role in Precious. According to Zoe, Gabby is “‘bubbly, hilarious, quick as a whip. It’s so funny, because with ‘Precious,’ she’s nothing like that. She’s the most bubbly person you’ll ever meet. She’s going to be great [on SNL]. Check the promos below that Gabby shot with Andy Samberg then watch the show to judge for yourself!
At the very least Gabby will have the last laugh over all those people who doubted she’d get good work after Precious. Take that Howard Stern!
The company AcaiSupply.com says they want the Precious star to take her health more seriously and use their products to lose weight.
In a letter to the star obtained by TMZ.com, the company’s CEO writes:
“The only way you can reach your goal of someday winning that Oscar is by being active, fit, and most of all, healthy!”
In related Gabby weight news, apparently Jessica Simpson was asked her opinion about the star’s appearance. I’m not sure why she asked, but she did at least have something nice to say.
On Howard Stern’s comments, Simpson said:
“I’m actually surprised somebody had the cojones to say that. I just think that’s really disrespectful. It’s unfortunate because she walked the red carpet at the Oscars and she owned it. She was beautiful. There was no denying that she did not think she was the most beautiful person on that red carpet. She was just owning that moment for herself. She had such confidence and I absolutely 100 percent think she could get anything in the world that she wants.”

Howard Stern just had to go there. On Monday, the “shock jock” was recaping the Oscars on his Sirius satellite show and decided to unleash a vicious attack on Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe’s weight:
“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie,” he said. “She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?” He continued the rant even dragged Oprah’s name in it! “Oprah’s another liar, a filthy liar,” said Stern. “She’s telling an enormous woman the size of a planet that she’s going to have a career.”
Too bad Howard didn’t take a second to at least glance at Gabby’s IMDB page before he started going in. Gabby has joined the cast of Showtime’s upcoming dark comedy series The Big C and we’ll see her back in theaters opposite Zoe Kravitz in the drama Yelling to the Sky.

In the frenzy of awards season ESSENCE pulled together some of the hottest stars for their 3rd Annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel yesterday. The event got emotional when Jada Pinkett Smith took the stage to present the “Power Award” to Queen Latifah, but ended up getting choked up over her father’s recent death from a heart attack.
“My father died last week, and I’m flying tomorrow to bury him,” Jada said though tears. “But I wanted to come because when those types of losses happen a lot of things get illuminated and your priorities fall in line.” Latifah came to console Jada and shed a few tears herself later telling reporters, “I was just so overwhelmed.”
In addition to Queen Latifah, several Hollywood legends (and legends to be) were honored at the luncheon including: Cicely Tyson (Legend Award); Gabourey Sidibe (Best Breakthrough Performance); Zoe Saldana (Star to Watch Award); and Mary J. Blige (Songstress of the Year). A long list of other entertainers including Nia Long, Serena Williams, Taraji P Henson, Keri Hilson, Vivica a Fox and Anika Noni-Rose (just to name a few!) were also in the house.
“This is the first time I’ve been to this event, and I’ve never laughed so hard and cried so much at once,” actress Joy Bryant told WWD. It’s a beautiful thing when Black women convene! Check out the video below of BET’s coverage!
