Janet Hubert may not be looking to become chummy with Wendy Williams any time soon, but there is one nemesis from her past she wants to end the beef with: Will Smith. The actress who played the original Aunt Vivian on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, expressed her desire to end her 20-year-old feud with the Hollywood heavyweight. She even said she would be down to participate in a cast reunion.
Following three seasons of starring on the groundbreaking sitcom, Hubert quit the show in 1993, only to be replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid. No definite reason was given for her departure. While said it was over her salary and an “episode count dispute,” Smith has maintained that it was because Hubert had a bad attitude on set. As a result, Smith has said, she was dismissed. And thus, the two had bad blood since.
But in an interview with TheGrio.com, Hubert said she wants to reconcile. “We need to heal this,” Hubert said. What words would she use to begin the healing? “You’ve done some things, you’ve said some things, that were totally untrue and you know that they were untrue,” she added. “I’ve said some things that I probably should have never said. … I don’t want to do another 21 years like this. Do you?”
Though the offer of healing old wounds is a nice gesture on Aunt Viv’s part, the only problem will be seeing if Will Smith still gives a hoot about the issue. Given the 21-year-old silence on his part and the gazillions he’s made as a Hollywood power player, it’s hard to think he’s pressed to even give a response.

If you are the Queen of Media, don’t get on the bad side of Janet Hubert. Just ask, well, self-described media queen Wendy Williams who reamed by the actress who played Aunt Viv on the groundbreaking sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Tatyana Ali did an interview earlier this week on The Wendy Williams Show. Along with dancing around questions about whether or not she slept with her celeb crush Drake, the former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star was asked about the departure of Hubert from the show back in the 1990s. Specifically, Wendy asked why was the actress replaced. (Numerous reports say Hubert was fired because she didn’t get along with Will Smith.)
Needless to say, Aunt Viv was one of the hordes who Wendy’s talk with Tatyana, and gave her a piece of her mind via Facebook. “If you want to know something about me, or anything about my life,” Hubert wrote, “why not go to the horses mouth instead of being a horse’s a** and going to someone who was a little girl at the time, Wiggy Williams? How you doin!! Just saying it like I mean it sistergirl.”
She also appeared on Blog Talk Radio to read her open letter live and on the air, taking her insults of Wendy a bit further. “Wendy Williams, or whatever you are supposed to be, I’m not quite sure,” she said. “I’m writing you yet again, to appeal to your sense of womanhood or manhood as some suggest. Please close your mouth about things that you know nothing of.”
Will Wendy learn a lesson from tussling with Aunt Viv? No. At least no lessons she’s already learned, especially the one about insulting retorts via the web make for great publicity. But if she wants a bigger bang for her show, Wendy should invite Hubert on her talk show.

Janet Hubert was feisty as the first “Aunt Viv” on Fresh Prince and every now and again she pops up to publicly tell someone about themselves. Last year that someone was her former co-star Will Smith and now she’s reprimanding Wendy Williams following the TV hosts’ on-camera breakdown while discussing the late Whitney Houston.
Wendy tearfully remembered Whitney on The Wendy Williams Show, just days after the iconic singer’s passing, but Janet wasn’t buying it.
“You said that morning with tears in your eyes, that you would not discuss Whitney any further, but you crucified her the whole time she was alive, as you do so many people on your show. I want to ask you why? What do you get out of this besides money?” Janet asked Wendy in an open letter obtained by Eurweb.
Wendy rose to fame in the early ‘90s spilling all the tea on celebrities lives on the radio and though she still follows celeb shenanigans on her current TV show, the entire production is much more tame. Still Janet wondered: “How do you sleep at night knowing that you are one of the biggest bullies in the world disguised as HOT TOPICS? Celebrities are not topics we are people, just like everyone else…”
The actress also took Wendy to task for comments made about Janet Jackson and “others you slam on a daily basis.” She ended the letter with a warning: “You need to stop Wendy. We need to stop, and the world needs to stop. I need to stop as well. There will be no more quotes from me to be misquoted. We need to join together,” she wrote. “You will not always be up, you will not always be on the A-list and attend all the parties. Ride the wave, sister girl, but make sure you know how to swim when the ride is over.”
