Bobby Brown Depressed By Estranged Relationship With Bobbi Kristina

Friends close to Bobby Brown claim the singer says his relapse with alcohol can be traced back to one thing: his estranged relationship with daughter Bobbi Kristina.

Since losing contact with his 19-year-old daughter after the death of her mother Whitney Houston in February, Brown, 43, has been snagged twice for DUI and has checked himself into rehab for alcoholism. reports that the “Don’t Be Cruel” singer has confided to family and friends that not having contact with his daughter has left him “depressed and empty.”

Feeling like a failure as a father, Brown reportedly says he is afraid his youngest child will grow up thinking he is a bad dad.

Well, considering that Bobbi Kristina is rumored to be dealing with her own personal hurdles, it would behoove Bobby to step away from the drink not only for himself but so he could be prepared to fight like hell and be a presence in his daughter’s life, no matter how much she avoids him. It’s the least he could do as a dad.

Jermaine Jackson Claims He Had Affair with Whitney Houston

Published by Natasha Fierce on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 10:00 am.

Picture it: 1984. A vibrant young pop star starts a secret affair with the married brother of music’s greatest icon. Though their love is under wraps, pop star spills her guts in song, and the track becomes her biggest hit to date. The affair ends, the pop star marries someone else, her life ends in tragedy and the secret goes with her to the grave…well, almost.

It sounds like a stretch, but newspaper The Sun is claiming that our pop star–Whitney Houston–was, in fact, saving all her love for none other than Jermaine Jackson.

The newspaper claims Whitney even cast a Jermaine look-a-like in her video for “Saving All My Love for You,” now said to be inspired from her romance with MJ’s bro, and hoped he would leave his wife for her.

Obviously, that never happened and Whitney married Bobby Brown. Evidently, Whitney and Jermaine never lost touch after the affair and that, folks, is why JJ was so torn up over Whitney’s death, so much so that he couldn’t bring himself to attend her funeral.

Just the idea of Whitney and Jermaine together makes us wonder…what if?

Janet “Aunt Viv” Hubert Slams Wendy Williams: “You Crucified Whitney!”

Published by Dior Noir on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 10:00 am.

(Photos from left:, Courtesy Wendy Williams Show)

Janet Hubert was feisty as the first “Aunt Viv” on Fresh Prince and every now and again she pops up to publicly tell someone about themselves. Last year that someone was her former co-star Will Smith and now she’s reprimanding Wendy Williams following the TV hosts’ on-camera breakdown while discussing the late Whitney Houston.

Wendy tearfully remembered Whitney on The Wendy Williams Show, just days after the iconic singer’s passing, but Janet wasn’t buying it.

“You said that morning with tears in your eyes, that you would not discuss Whitney any further, but you crucified her the whole time she was alive, as you do so many people on your show. I want to ask you why? What do you get out of this besides money?” Janet asked Wendy in an open letter obtained by Eurweb.

Wendy rose to fame in the early ‘90s spilling all the tea on celebrities lives on the radio and though she still follows celeb shenanigans on her current TV show, the entire production is much more tame. Still Janet wondered: “How do you sleep at night knowing that you are one of the biggest bullies in the world disguised as HOT TOPICS? Celebrities are not topics we are people, just like everyone else…”

The actress also took Wendy to task for comments made about Janet Jackson and “others you slam on a daily basis.” She ended the letter with a warning:  “You need to stop Wendy. We need to stop, and the world needs to stop. I need to stop as well. There will be no more quotes from me to be misquoted. We need to join together,” she wrote. “You will not always be up, you will not always be on the A-list and attend all the parties. Ride the wave, sister girl, but make sure you know how to swim when the ride is over.”

Oprah Apologizes For Grammy Night Tweets Trying to Lure Viewers to OWN

Published by Dior Noir on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 9:15 am.

Oprah has issued a public apology for sending a controversial Tweet on Grammy night. The Queen of Daytime TV tried to wrangle some of her nine million Twitter followers who might be tuning into the Grammy Awards and get them over to her OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) cable channel instead.

“Every 1 who can please tune into OWN especially if  you have a Neilsen box,” Oprah Tweeted just after 9pm when both the music awards show and her interview show Oprah’s Next Chapter were to begin.

The Tweet caused followers to call her “desperate” and even “unethical” for “begging” for viewers and she quickly shot back, “the word ‘please’ is used as courtesy not a beg” and reminded another follower “’desperate’ not ever a part of my vocab.” But besides setting off the Twitterverse, the call for viewers landed Oprah in hot water with Nielsen who prohibits its clients from soliciting viewers that are a part of the Neilsen system in an attempt to change viewer habits or boost ratings as ratings play a large role in how much a network can charge advertisers.

Oprah apologized for her Tweet and said she deleted the message “at the request of Nielsen.” She added “I intended no harm and apologize for the reference.” The company is taking the violation seriously and is still looking into it.

Ironically, Oprah watched the Grammys instead of her show herself, telling followers she was in  a Georgia hotel that didn’t carry her channel. During the show she championed Adele for her six-Grammy win: “Adele! Adele! This is her Year! YAAAY!” The episode she wanted everyone to catch on OWN? An interview she did with a Hasidic Jewish family, who had never even watched TV before.

OWN will air a two-hour special, in honor of Whitney Houston.

Whitney Taught Me…

Published by Dior Noir on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 10:00 am.

“I believe the children our our future, teach them well and let them lead the way, show them all the beauty they possess inside, give them a sense of pride…”

While Whitney Houston’s mega-hit “The Greatest Love of All” (a Michael Masser-Linda Creed composition, first recorded by George Benson in 1977) may bring up a laugh thanks to Eddie Murphy’s comical rendition in Coming to America, I’d bet many of us remember this song from preforming it in the younger years: in a school assembly or perhaps a church pageant.

The first time I ever learned the song it was for sixth grade graduation (by then I’d already been obsessed with The Bodyguard–tape!–and Waiting to Exhale soundtracks).  It was a powerful manifesto for my class–of all races. I “get” the message even more now as an adult than I ever did when I was 12, but even back then the seeds of self-esteem were being planted as we all belted the song (off-key) out to our parents and loved ones in the audience.

“I decided long ago, never to walk in any one’s shadow, if I fail if I succeed at least I lived as I believed, no matter what they take from me, they can’t take away my dignity!”

Wow. Can we get that printed on a plaque? Those lines remain some of my favorites, out of any Whitney song and as we reflect back on her life, her trailblazing accomplishments, her ups and downs, all of who she was as THE voice that came from the soul and spoke to our hearts, I’ll always remember how she taught a little 6th grade Black girl “The Greatest Love of All” and that it starts with self.

In the days following the shocking departure of one of our greatest singers of all time, I’m reminded more than ever that we all owe it to ourselves to tap into that self love. When the world gets tough, sometimes it’s all we have.  Thank you, Whitney, for that prolific lesson.

Lady GaGa Thanks Whitney Houston At Grammys

Published by Runteldat on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm.

Dressed like Madonna during the Blond Ambition tour with your favorite video girl’s least favorite pair of butt pads, Lady GaGa accepted her Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album last night.

But, it wasn’t her outfit that stuck out most for once. Indeed, it was the way she ended her acceptance speech.

It was all good until GaGa got to the very end when she decided to cite Whitney Houston for inspiring her latest single, the “gay anthem” “Born This Way.”

On Nippy’s contribution, GaGa said:

“I need to thank Whitney Houston. I wanted to thank Whitney, because when I wrote ‘Born this Way,’ I imagined she was singing it — because I wasn’t secure enough in myself to imagine I was a superstar. So, Whitney, I imagined you were singing born this way when I wrote it.”

It’s funny to hear an attention seeker who admittedly chased fame for several years suddenly feign shyness about the very stardom she found.

I don’t get it and I’m sure neither did Whitney.

Bobby Brown Rep Denies Tabloid Stories About Bobbi Kristina

Published by Runteldat on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 11:50 am.

The National Enquirer reported that Bobbi Kristina Brown was a wild child unleashing havoc on all those around her.  They also said that Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown were coming together to stage an intervention for their 17-year-old daughter.

The story seemed skeptical, but photos of Bobbi Kristina drinking and making out with her friends prompted speculation about the teenager’s behavior.

A rep for Bobby Brown told E! News: “There is no truth to the reports about Bobby and Whitney staging an intervention with their daughter.”

Shouldn’t the tabloids lay off a teenager?

Whitney Addresses Her Vocal Woes

Published by Dior Noir on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 3:00 pm.

People have been speculating that Whitney Houston’s voice is not what it once was for some time now, but when the diva croaked out an off-key rendition of “I Will Always Love You” during a London show on Sunday, she finally acknowledged it herself:

“She don’t want to come, my soprano friend,” Whitney told the crowd in O2 arena after having difficulty with the high notes in the hit. She added: “Sometimes the old girl sings, but not tonight. I want to do it, but she just doesn’t want to. I have long talks with her. Well tonight, she’s getting a little temperamental.”

According to USA Today, fans walked out of the weekend concert (other reports say that fans booed) and Whitney “paused during songs to catch her breath and panted heavily in between…in many songs, her backup singers carried the melody.”

Whitney blamed the venue’s air conditioning which she told fans “turned my soprano off.”  She also sited AC as a the reason why she had a vocally rocky performance at her Birmingham, England show weeks before.

Whitney might not have the voice she once did, but she has been exercising her chords for the better part of 20 years — an achievement I bet most of today’s singers will never get to claim!  Whitney has changed but so has the level of talent on the charts . Half of today’s artists don’t sound good on their records — let alone live!

What do you think of Whitney’s vocal troubles?  Check out the clip below.

Whitney Houston Criticizes Today’s Entertainers for Being ‘Dark’ and ‘Characters’

Published by Dior Noir on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 3:00 pm.

Say what you want about Whitney Houston’s singing voice and whether or not it’s back but when it comes to voicing her opinion, the diva is still telling it like it is. Whitney was interviewed about her upcoming “Nothing But Love” world tour, and  had a mouthful to say about the current state of the music industry and its power players.

“Music doesn’t change, people change the music; they become characters instead of really displaying their gifts,” she said. “If you look behind a lot of the people that are out there that are wearing these, you know, weird clothing–I’m not talking about anyone in particular, I’ve just seen for myself–there are some extremely gifted and talented young women and young men out there who don’t have to put on Halloween costumes, just be themselves. A little extravagance, a little flair, a little sexiness or a sultriness is cool, but some of them are very dark….” Shots fired Lady Gaga and Rihanna!

Interestingly enough Whitney is asked how she feels when she looks back on her outfits from the ’80s (you know, the decade that pretty much inspired the fashion of today’s artists) and she replies: “But that was the ‘80, I look at myself, I look at Madonna, I look at Prince, I look at Michael I look at all of us and I go, we had costumes. They weren’t scary, it was that we were performers, performing. Having artistry is one thing, but being dark and just you know, different weird stuff it’s not becoming. To me it’s not becoming at all.”

Interesting… she does make a good point about some people in the music industry relying on gimmicks rather than talent though. Thoughts?

Best (and Worst) of 2009!

Published by Dior Noir on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 3:00 pm.

Breakups, makeups, births, deaths and plenty of drama in between! Yep, it’s been a whirlwind year in the headlines! Here we take a look back at some of the top stories this year had to offer.

Obama Spent His First Year As President

At the end of 2008 we got our first Black President but who knew we’d get a President and First Lady on celebrity status! The world couldn’t get enough of this power couple’s movements both in and out of the White House (I mean magazine covers, late night talk shows, no body was checking for Bush like that!) and you’ve gotta love Lady O’s style!

Michael Jackson Passed Away

When Michael Jackson announced his “This is It” tour, no one could’ve imagined that we would really see the end of the King of Pop.  MJ passed away on June 25th and his death was later ruled a homicide. Though his eccentric behavior once made him the brunt of many jokes, after he passed it was clear that Michael had touched the lives of millions worldwide and his legacy would be cherished by fans for years to come.

Chris Brown and Rihanna Fought

It was the hit(s) heard round the world and unfortunately they had nothing to do with the music charts. After Chris Brown assaulted Rhianna in February, the media would spend the entire year dissecting and discussing the two pop stars every movement.

Oprah Announced The End of Her Show in 2011

After years of running her iconic talk show, the Queen of Daytime media announced she will end her show after 25 seasons to make time to launch her O.W.N Network.

Lil Wayne Had Baby Mama Drama

When Lil’ Wayne sung “I just want to fu–k every girl in the world” he wasn’t playing! Too bad he didn’t use condoms. The rapper (who already had a daughter and a son with two separate women) made headlines when he knocked up both Nivea and Lauren London at the same time.

Tiger Woods Had Mistress Drama

Tiger Woods gave Lil’ Wayne a run for his money and shocked the world when his skeletons came out of the closet at the end of this year! No one would’ve guessed that the married, seemingly straight laced golfer had not one, not two but possibly 15 mistresses he was creeping with on the side!

Kanye West Had a Meltdown at the MTV Video Music Awards

We knew Kanye had no qualms about speaking his mind, but no one expected the  rapper to storm the stage when country music star Taylor Swift was accepting her award for “Video of the Year” and exclaim “I’mma let you finish but Beyonce had the best video this year!” That act caused a media backlash against Mr. West and he declared he would be taking a break from the game.

Whitney Came Back

Everyone wondered if the songbird with the troubled past would ever sound the same and get back to the music that made her a star.  This year she had the last laugh when her comeback album, the first in seven years, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.  Pow!

Usher Got a Divorce

There were many skeptics at the beginning of  Usher and Tameka Foster Raymond’s romance and this year they called it quits. The divorce  dragged on forever as the two got more and more catty with each other (calling the police, requesting paternity tests, etc.).  The drama will live on forever thanks in part to Usher making a single “Papers” about the whole incident.

Have a Happy New Year! We’ll be back in 2010 to give you a whole new set of stories and dish!
