Zoe Saldana is one actress who knows how to gets plenty of ink. Her movie choices get people talking before they’re made. The Star Trek star was put in a hailstorm of Internet buzz since it was announced that she would play the lead in the controversial casting choice of Nina Simone in an upcoming biopic.

But her personal life hasn’t been anything to nod off at either. Saldana, who has been romantically linked with A-list actors Bradley Cooper and Chris Pine, shared some insight into her personal preferences for love during a recent interview for Allure.

After telling the magazine that she’s “been there, done that and got the T-shirt,” regarding dating actors, Saldana dropped this bomb about her sexuality, “ [I might] end up with a woman raising my children…” she told Allure. “ That’s how androgynous I am.”

By the way, the gorgeous beauty was also tastefully stark naked in the Allure spread and graces the magazine’s cover. She joins the sisterhood ranks of Gabrielle Union, Jill Scott, Taraji P. Henson and others who’ve taken it all off for the women’s beauty magazine. Go Zoe!

They were first linked together a year ago after meeting on the set of their indie drama, The Words, but now it appears the coupling of Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper may be over according to The New York Post.

The pair, who was just seen publicly celebrating the Los Angeles premiere of Cooper’s latest film, Silver Linings Playbook in December, reportedly brought in the New Year separately. Cooper rang in 2013 in Europe, while Saldana celebrated with family and friends, including Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade in Miami. On the last day of  2012, the actress was observed enjoying a private dinner and capped off her evening by dancing poolside at a hotel.

Now of course, this latest transatlantic space could just be considered a breather for this on-again, off-again duo. The Avatar actress and The Hangover star have been exclusively linked to each other romantically since their love connection was  made. So it doesn’t appear publicly that there are any third parties involved in this separation.

So, let’s hope this striking couple renews the love in 2013. Baby Kimye is cool, but how beautiful would Zadley’s babies be?

Anyhow, Us Weekly reports that the 32-year-old actress is ready to marry her boyfriend of 10 years, Keith Britton.

A source told the magazine, “They’ve been together forever. They’re a great couple.”

Though we’ve seen them on the occasional red carpet together, Zoe is quite low key about discussing him.

Another source quipped, “She doesn’t even introduce him as her fiancé. She will just say, ‘This is Keith.’ She likes to keep her personal life to herself and wants people to focus on her as an actress.”

Indeed, there are people who care to be private in the let me show you me crotch as I hop out of a limo world we live in.

As far as a wedding date goes, nothing is set in stone. A separate source on the engagement noted, “She hasn’t stopped working to plan anything”

Zoe Saldana is one of the few actresses who bothers to offer an opinion that goes beyond the typical publicist-approved talking points and for that reason alone, I appreciate her.

Gracing the cover of the new issue of Mujer magazine, Saldana talks about race, ethnicity, her masculine and feminine sides, along with her philosophy on life.

On her background:

“I’m just Zoe. Not a little bit Dominican, not a little bit Puerto Rican, none of that silliness…I am what you want me to be if that’s what it takes for you to overcome your insecurities. As a Latina, I think we should be very proud of our heritage. We tend to look for European roots and reject the indigenous and the African, and that is disgusting. Being Latin is a mix of everything. I want my people to not be as insecure, and to adore what we are because it’s beautiful.”

On her masculine side:

“I have too much of one! People have sometimes told my grandmother, ‘Your niece has a bit of lesbianism in her.’ It’s that my sisters and I spent all our time amongst men. We were very popular with them. Our way of thinking is very masculine.”

Her feminine side:

“If you want to punish me, send me to get a manicure or pedicure, or dress me in a skirt or shorts, and I would die. But if you dress me in jeans and a button down blouse I feel very sexy, feminine and powerful. It has to do with my personality. That’s why I think I’m very attracted to men who or masculine but in tune with their feminine side. I’ve been with my partner for 10 years!”

Her outlook on life:

“Life is much more and less than what we imagine. Life for me is very simple. When I wake up in my bed I always think, ‘If I’m fortunate enough to die in a bed, I’m not going to take with me material things, or money, or jewelry, or fame – nothing except the profound moments I experienced.”

Nice, only one thing Zoe: Tell your older relatives that lesbianism has nothing to do with masculinity. Let’s keep the old heads progressive.

In the frenzy of awards season ESSENCE pulled together some of the hottest stars for their 3rd Annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel yesterday. The event got emotional when Jada Pinkett Smith took the stage to present the “Power Award” to Queen Latifah, but ended up getting choked up over her father’s recent death from a heart attack.

“My father died last week, and I’m flying tomorrow to bury him,” Jada said though tears. “But I wanted to come because when those types of losses happen a lot of things get illuminated and your priorities fall in line.” Latifah came to console Jada and shed a few tears herself later telling reporters, “I was just so overwhelmed.”

In addition to Queen Latifah, several Hollywood legends (and legends to be) were honored at the luncheon including: Cicely Tyson (Legend Award); Gabourey Sidibe (Best Breakthrough Performance); Zoe Saldana (Star to Watch Award); and Mary J. Blige (Songstress of the Year).  A long list of other entertainers including Nia Long, Serena Williams, Taraji P Henson, Keri Hilson, Vivica a Fox and Anika Noni-Rose (just to name a few!) were also in the house.

“This is the first time I’ve been to this event, and I’ve never laughed so hard and cried so much at once,” actress Joy Bryant told WWD. It’s a beautiful thing when Black women convene! Check out the video below of BET’s coverage!

FernGully 3 Avatar star Zoe Saldana is gracing the cover of the latest Glamour magazine and in her interview she touched on issues pertaining to race and life.

Judging from past quotes Zoe doesn’t like to really talk about race at length. When she was recently asked about the controversy surrounding the pale Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair she basically sideswiped the issue by talking about how great America was.

Yeah, ok.

Anyhow here’s an excerpt from her interview in the April 2010 edition of Glamour:

GLAMOUR: In past interviews, you’ve bristled on the topic of race. Why?

ZOË SALDANA: Because ethnic is a word that doesn’t exist in my vocabulary. In Hollywood, you hear things like, “Oh, they loved you but they want to go more traditional.” That’s the new N word. So when [someone says] I look “dark,” I say, “Dark compared to whom? This is just my skin.”

Maybe Tinker Bell will fly down from heaven and get everyone in this country to see Zoe’s philosophy.

In the meantime, here’s Zoe on what she’s looking more of in life:

“I want to have more sex, travel more, drink more wine and love life.”

So drunk sex on foreign soil? I’m with it.
