Old Spice and Older Stupid Ideas (Be Quiet, Isaiah Mustafa)

Yawn. This is so tired.

For some reason, someone cared what someone who sells us body deodorants wants in a woman. And so Isaiah Mustafa informed the world that his wife best have “good hair.” Not just good, but good enough to X out his own “slightly nappy” hair and produce children with good hair.

It’s clear that Mustafa went into the right industry. Biology clearly would not have worked for him, as this ignorant statement proves he has no real grasp on how genetics work and why we wind up looking the way we look.

He also should have never been a teacher or guidance counselor, lest his students be subjected to such ignorant views as “good” and “bad” hair presented as nothing more harmful than personal preference. Why teach self-hate in the classroom when you can just spout it via Twitter and the internet?

So, yes, actor was just the right path for him. Because now he can “act” like he meant no harm. Because after the accusations of “negro, have you lost your mind!?” came pouring in from Black people who heard about his foolishness, the Old Spice Man leapt onto Twitter and typed: “I want 2 apologize wholeheartedly 2 anyone out there who was offended or hurt by the irresponsible comments I made on E! news. #ignorant”.

#ignorant, indeed! Now get back on that funny white horse from your commercial and go sell us some personal hygiene products. The next time anyone asks you for your opinion, just say, “I am an actor, please buy Old Spice so I can pay my bills. Next.”

Having read this I thought it was very informative. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this article together. I once again find myself spending way to much time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worth it!

I find no harm in what he stated. Being that I am an African American woman with “good” hair! Whatever happened to freedom of speech??!! The man wants what he wants, period point blank!!!! We as people take things wayyyyy too serious at times!!!
