Nicki Minaj is Vibe’s June Cover Girl
May 27th, 2010
Calling all Barbies!
VIBE announced this week that Nicki Minaj is going to grace the cover of their June/July 2010 issue and they offered up a sneak peek of an outtake from the shoot. “No, this is not the actual cover,” they said. “Just a teaser make you go crazy.” Rodger that! Check the photo below, mission accomplished?

The Young Money princess has been making the media rounds while prepping her debut album and has landed other covers for Fader and XXL (with Drake). She’ll also cover the June issue of Word Up! magazine. For Vibe, she posed up like a doll in a black and white lace corset, screaming pink and turquoise makeup, pounds of jewelry and a hairdo that looks like a tamer verson of something we’d see at Bronner Bros International Hair Show in Atlanta. Oh and they couldn’t forget her signature animated eyes to complete her Barbie steeze.
Barbie sure has come a long way! The first Black Barbie doll was introduced to the market in 1959 and while Barbie had a few Black friends–”Christie” and “Julia” to name a few–along the way, the first Black doll to officially get the name Barbie didn’t arrive until 1980. Mattel is currently celebrating the 30th Anniversary of “Black Barbie.”
