Legendary percussionist Sheila Escovedo, better known as Sheila E. was scouted for her musical talents and her beauty, the talented artist was discovered by Prince while performing with her father’s band in 1978. Although they dated and have since been eternally linked through music, Sheila wasn’t the only influential lady in Prince’s life. Here are some other women Prince aligned himself with musically and romantically.
All female pop group Vanity 6, a trio formed by Prince in the early ’80s, originally went under the name the Hookers and was led by Prince’s then girlfriend Susan Moonsie. That is until Prince met Denise Matthews, whom he named Vanity and pushed to the forefront of the group.
When Ohio native Carmen Electra moved to Los Angeles in 1991 at just 19 years old, she was immediately discovered by Prince who gave her a contract with his label Paisley Park Records. The singing thing didn’t work out for Electra but it gave her a great platform for pursuing both modeling and acting.
