Redman is ready to pick it up once again. The Brick City spitter is finally ready to release the long-promised sequel to his 1996 classic Muddy Waters. On Sunday, Red tweeted, “We about to start the Redman 20th Year Anniversary Campaign !! Muddy Waters 2 n progress!! Be a part of it!!” The message also contained a link to an Instagram image of the album cover of Muddy Waters seemingly spraypainted on a brick wall (get it?) with the words “coming soon.” But this won’t be the first time a musician has tried to prove that lightning can indeed strike twice, or even thrice. Lupe Fiasco, Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Pt. 1
Lupe Fiasco landed his first No. 1 album last March with Lasers. But despite this unexpected success, the Chicago rapper isn’t looking to repeat that LP’s pop-oriented, dance-music-influenced sound. Instead, the Chicago rapper will be returning to his sonic roots with a sequel to his acclaimed 2006 debut, Food & Liquor. “I just wanted to go back to the essence of what made that record so special,” Lupe said in a recent interview with Fuse TV. “It’s just me–what I would do for myself if nobody ever heard it. This is the kind of music that I would make. It’s a masterpiece.”
Lil Wayne I Am Not a Human Being 2 and Rebirth 2
Although 2010’s I Am Not a Human Being and Rebirth albums didn’t appear to have made enough of a splash to warrant remakes, Wayne recently announced that he’s going forward with their sequels I Am Not a Human Being 2and Rebirth 2. Weezy explains that the albums are vital as they allowed him to explore his various musical sensibilities.
