Denzel and Will To Remake Cosby’s ‘Uptown Saturday Night’?

denzelwillBefore Bill Cosby was America’s favorite dad, he starred in a 1974 movie called Uptown Saturday Night opposite Sidney Poitier.  Cosby and Poitier play friends who are robbed at a nightclub.  The culprit took Cosby’s wallet, which had a winning lottery ticket and the two must find a way to get the wallet back.  The movie is considered a comedy classic, especially with the all-star cast that included Flip Wilson and Richard Pryor.

Will Smith’s production company is supposedly looking for writers to create a modern version of the flick.  Names like  Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence have been tossed around to play alongside Smith.  However, Pajiba.com recently reported Denzel Washington is attached to the project.

It would be great to see these two mega stars team up for flick.  Denzel Washington rarely ever catches a brick and Will Smith’s movie history is pretty consistent.  We can expect some comedy and cinemtatic gold out of these two veterns.

But, the duo I am still looking forward to is Martin and Jamie Foxx in the Sheneneh and Wanda movie!

There is a lot of cases where certain movies should be left as classics. Uptown Saturday Night is one of them. However, the ppl behind this project I believe can turn this classic into the best remake of twenty-ten. Lets hope i’m not wrong.
