The movie was great I took my daughter shes 13yr. I felt that it was something that she needed to see and to let her know that things like this really do happen in the world. It happens every day. I felt that it teaches women to be on the look out for things that can happen like this. You do not need a man to validate you as being a woman. You can do that yourself you are a parent first and you are to protect at all times. Thanks monique for playing the role and taking the character to another level and letting people see that you have come a long way no matter what has happen your past you overcame that.

I haven’t seen the move yet, but the book was awesome. That is, once I was able to get past the grammer and poor english.. As soon as I get a chance I will go see the movie. Monique is a great actress and I am sure the woman who tplayed Precious is good as well. Once a person start believing in self, anything is possible.

Thank you, you have blessed me with this film. More than you will ever know. I want to be that same teacher in the film. When she was crying her heart out to the instructor, I said what she said at the same time “write”. I dream of becoming a Science and Spanish teacher, giving back to community, (MLK Shreveport, La) but Satin just want leave me alone. I pray and ask God to continue to use me and to allow me to do walk with Him. Movies like this give me curage and the understanding that He is always with me. I shedded tears at some point in this movie because I have feeling. I know what it is like to have a dream and only to be told that because of the way you are, you cant have it. Thank you. I tell my students all the time, I have dream and a goal. My goal is to become a Eniviromental Psychologist but my dream is to meet Mary J. Blidge and write my first gosple album. Because I know God both will come true. Thank you becasue life will make you give up sometimes and that is when actors and producers come along. My God continue to use you all and to motivate us as African American today. LeAndrea Darnell Humphrey

This was a great movie. Monique was great…she had me believing she was a gangsta girl gone over the edge from stress. At times I couldn’t understand some of Precious’ words and I wanted to know what kind of family her dad came from. It is good to see that “Precious” started to trust herself and believe in her ability. I liked that she used her special place to draw energy from. When we see that earth we walk on is not just dirt, the trees and animals are not just resources for our consumption, then we can begin to accept ourselves as spirits vibrating in unison with all the other spirits around us. We are wonderfully made by God!

We should always pray for others to find good things in themselves and to stop being victims of evil doers. May God bless each of us with all we need and some left over to bless others.

“Mo’Nique acts with such force that she burns a hole in the screen. Her Mary is raging and defeated, a woman who treats Precious as a slave — and I don’t use the word lightly, since part of the film’s power is its perception that these two are living out patterns of cruelty that go back for generations. Their agony has roots. What’s terrifying about the abuse here is how casually it’s accepted as a fact of life, by both perpetrator and victim. Mary hates her daughter because she thinks that Precious has ‘’stolen” her man. Yet she also exploits her as a welfare ticket. How to escape this hell?

One night, the two get a visit from a school administrator, who wants to enroll Precious in a special program for problem students. Quietly, almost instinctively, Precious signs up. The program becomes her pathway out of the madness and into a real life. And if that sounds like a facile feel-good scenario, the way that Daniels stages it, sticking to the merciless outline of Sapphire’s novel, it’s more like a slow walk of redemption marked by tiny roadside bombs that keep going off.”
