This is why I love my pasttime as a gamer. It’s the whole culture around it and the many things the fans create surrounding this cool hobby! Take for instance this latest blending of two genres. Hip Hop and the all time classic Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. The folks over at Team Teamwork (love the play on words) found the need to lay some of Hip Hops famous mcees over some of the unforgettable samples from Ocarina of Time in their new mix cd “The Ocarina of Ryhme”. And with some good results. Give it a listen and see why we are all part of one of the coolest forms of entertainment period!

The Ocarina of Rhyme – Tracklist:

01 – Clipse – Virginia (Lost Woods)
02 – Dr. Dre + Snoop Dogg – Still D.R.E. (Getting Treasure)
03 – Jay-Z – No Hook (Meeting the Owl)
04 – Pimp C, Lil Keke + P.O.P. – Knockin’ Doorz Down (Hyrule Field)
05 – Common – I used to Love H.E.R. (Hyrule Market)
06 – Aesop Rock – No Jumpercables (Goron Village)
07 – Edan – Fumbling Over Words (Battle)
08 – MF Doom – Vomit (Horse Race at Lon Lon Ranch)
09 – Spank Rock – IMC (Zora’s Domain)
10 – Slim Thug + Mike Jones – Still Tippin’ (Great Fairy’s Fountain)

Download here!

p.s. we took the liberty of whipping up that little album cover since the original is kinda well… wack!

Those are tears of joy for 50 Cent! Awhile ago we told you about 50’s newest game Blood On The Sand being dumped because of it’s publishers merger. Well it looks like the fine folks at THQ didn’t want to see 50’s game go by the ways side

The latest rumblings say that sources close to developer Swordfish studios told GamesIndustry.biz that the game was almost complete and ready to go. And according to a listing by the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification, THQ will be publishing the game. So all you 50 fans here’s his next project to look out for, and hopefully it’ll be good! Peep the original trailer below to refresh those memories. G…G…G..Geeee Unit!

The no sh*t taking cool as hell samurai with the biggest ‘fro ever is about to cut it up on the Ps3 and Xbox360 come January 2009. From the manga and anime based of the same name, Afro Samurai tells the tale of a wondering samurai out for revenge against the murderer of his father and the holder of the coveted number one headband.

This headband is said to give it’s wearer unlimited power and is the envy of warriors through out the land. So you could imagine the types of nasty guys trying to get this thing! What’s hot about this series besides it’s tight art style and sick action sequences is it’s infusion of hip-hop culture and everyone’s favorite onscreen bad ass… Samuel L. Jackson. Not only is he the executive-producer he also voices the main character and his sidekick Ninja. The gameplay is said to be a highly stylistic hack and slash with beats provided & supervised by Wu-Tang Clan’s very own The RZA! Consider me interested, as the anime series was hot and the beats were sick! It was natural that a game would be made and so far from what’s been shown it looks very promising. I can also say it’s nice to see a lead black character in a different type of game where he isn’t either playing sports or acting ghetto while shootin’ it up in some hood!

Unit out…
