MadWorld

With the endless sea of sequels and generic rehashes the video game industry is saturated with, it’s a nice change of pace to see a small developer, taken under the wing of Sega, to produce a truly unique experience. With its Frank Miller signature look, barrage of pop cultural references, and ridiculous amount of unrealistic violence, this breath of fresh air will infamously be known as “MadWorld.” This short but fun beat ‘em up is developed by Platinum Games (made up of the key members of the team that formerly worked for the creative powerhouse Clover Studios), and, depending on what type of person you are, you might either love it or hate it. Gaming not recession proof?

It’s been a long tradition that during times of economic hardship, the entertainment industry always booms. People need escapism, to be taken away from the perils of the real world. Technically the videogame industry is still riding high. So what gives?

Beijing 2008

What up peoples. I know you must be in the thick of patriotic pride with Michael Phelps record breaking 8 Gold Medals in a single Olympics, or even amazed at Jamaica’s Usain Bolt’s unbelievable runs in the 100m and 200m World Record setting time.

The light from the global games usually means that there’s a videogame tie in as well. This year is no different as Sega does the honors and gives us a double dip.

Shootin’ it up B-movie style

Not to long ago Sega released a port of the classic arcade light gun shooter The House of the Dead 2&3 for the wii. They were great ports and showed that they still held up today with it’s over the top cheesy  dialogue and fun game play. Well Sega looks to take us way back to the early days of Agent G in this new installment of the the series.

New Sonic game dropping soon…yay?

Alright, how many of you guys out there still like Sonic the Hedgehog?…anyone?…come one I know you’re out there! Well you’ll be happy to know that the fine folks at Sega are dropping a new game entitled Sonic: Unleashed. And from the video below you’ll get a good idea of what’ll be unleashed, that’s right Sonic goes beast mode and transforms into some Hedgehog/werewolf hybrid thing. Fangs, claws and all. Now I’m sure that’s the hook of the game but at the same time it just seems alittle weird (afterall isn’t Sonic an animal already?).
