It’s been  a year since rapper Kanye West lost his mom, Dr. Donda West — she was 58 – from what was generally believed to be complications while recovering from plastic surgery. Now, Essence.com reports, the rapper and producer has got to deal with even more family drama. California authorities are investigating Kanye’s cousin Stephan Scoggins, who is a registered nurse and was supervising his aunt’s post-surgery care, reports People.com.

According to her autopsy, Donde West died as the result of multiple post-op factors, including the possibility that Scoggins may have given her too many painkillers in a short period of a time.

Kanye has yet to comment on the current investigation.
