Prince could have had the sugery using a different type of transfusion, the JWS have a leasion committy that comes to the hospital when ever there is a blood issue, and its free so they would have helped him with that, after all they even do heart surgery without blood and without all those side effects

Denise, It does have to do with being a Jehovah’s Witness. There is a scripture in the bible that they base this off of. It’s in Acts 15:28,29. Scripturally blood is forbidden to be taken into the body because it is a command from Jehovah God as found at Genesis 9:3, 4 and Acts 15:28, 29. While blood is life saving, it is only the presentation of Jesus Christ’s blood as a sacrafice for all man that can actually be of a saving factor. Therefore, we honor the sacred lifeforce that blood represents and follow the commands that Jehovah has set out for us in his Word the Bible.

As for having a surgical procedure, we do want to be healthy and will take volume expanditures (saline could be used in this manner). I am sure that Prince was seeking a doctor who would honor his faith and agree to do the surgery for him without a blood transfusion. There are a lot of doctors who will refuse to perform some types of surgeries on Jehovah’s Witnesses because they believe the surgical procedure requires a blood transfusion. Since this is the case, it will often take longer for the surgical procedure to be completed, however, it will be accomplished without blood and he will survive.
