Remember the Time: Leave your condolences for MJ

Say what you will about Michael Jackson, but if not for him the likes of Usher, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Beyonce, and every other Black megastar that came after him wouldn’t be here.

He is a trendsetter in every sense of the world. From his dancing to his videos to his hair (I’m not kidding – his lacefront game was so proper) Michael changed the game and no matter how hard others try to copy him there will never be another like him.

As sad as I am about his death I can’t help but smile about all of the wonderful memories he’s given me.

I remember my mom telling me that I used to cry whenever the “Thriller” video came on because I was so young and afraid. Well they laughed at me, so that’s more so a happy memory for them.

I remember jumping and up down and screaming, “I’m BAD” in my living room.

I remember watching Moonwalker over and over again. People shouldn’t sleep on that movie. Mike was the original Transformer.

I remember screaming “Dirty Diana” over and over again to my mom and her threatening to beat the hell out of me because Diana is her first name.

I remember gathering around the TV to watch Michael premiere the video for “Remember The Time.”

I remember cursing out my friend for staining my favorite Michael Jackson t-shirt. If you’re wondering, no I wasn’t a kid. I was like 22.

You still may catch me screaming “shamon” for no good reason.

As I sit here, I am listening to “In The Closet,” fighting the urge to get up and strut around like Nay-Nay (that’s Naomi Campbell to you) in the video.

I think Mike would want it that way.

As unfortunate as his death is, Michael did more by 30 than people who lived to be 100. We have to celebrate his genius.

What a sad tragic waste of such a great man.
Michael may of had issues but hey who doesn’t? At the end of the day he was only human just like the rest of us, but he had something more! He was gifted, talented, he cared, he shared, he gave, he could sing and dance and bring joy to people. Michael was loved the world over by his fans, but the media, critics and ignorant people ridiculed him, belittled him and so missunderstood him. To all you critics out there what have you done? what have you given? what have you shared? what have you loved? As Michael says look at the man in the mirror!. He gave his all from such a young age and i for one am totally gutted that he has gone. There will never be another Michael jackson, my heart weighs heavy for the loss.
Rest in peace Michael, you tried to make the world a better place, if only more people cared like you did, then we’d all be better off. Your fans will always love you and never ever forget you and your music will be played for many years to come. May you rest in peace XXXXXXXXXXX

To the family,
I embrace the life and legacy of my true friend. He will never be forgotten! As I look back over the years of my life, I remember the impact my beloved brother made on my life. As I listened to his music , I was touched just to know that his compassion for humanity real. This is factuality; and not an illusion.
Those who of us who share this belief have a kindred spirit. He touched my heart, and even my son’s life at the age of 3. We are to lead by example. Thank God for his courage, wisdom, and determination to make a differance for all mankind.
A great man once wrote, “Friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life;and thanks to a benevolent arrangement of things, the greater part of life is sunshine.” Thomas Jefferson
I’ve watched MJ let his light shine. For those who read my comment; be encouraged and remember I CAN, I Will, and Must Succeed.

Celebration of a Man’s Life
He lived it abundantly, a giver a great human being and humanitarian as well as a teacher in the true definition of love, unconditionally. A man known as MICHEAL J. JACKSON a father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and a child of god. I remember this young cute boy that I grew up listening to in song and singing along with him.
He said in his song that he’s bad and you know it” and I say yes you are forever more BAD! He was one of a kind and unique in his craft and to simply put it into one word it was a magical experience. To see this boy who grew into this remarkable man, glide across the floor doing the moonwalk and those videos, all I can say is… bravo Michael. I will always admire the man and the life he lead, the giving, as a humanitarian to the world. Michael and I are the same age and I just turned 51 it saddens me to see such a positive force of love and a contributor in so many ways, depart this life. Michael will live on in memory to his dear fans, I remembered when he would come out on stage before a concert and the fans would scream… we love you Michael and he would say… I love you more. Although he will be truly missed by those who loved him and knew him best… his dear Family. Janet said it best… when she said you knew him as an icon but to us, he was family. Whenever I see and hear of someone departing this life, a thought comes to mind. I ask the question sometimes in silence did they live, and not just exist. Because to me, it’s not how long we live yet within that time, did we really make a difference, love and humble ourselves to those in need. Better yet, is there someone that can say there life is better because of us? And really what journeys do we have to take and how much time has to be spent for us as a people to really get it, to understand life’s purpose. To live life to the fullest not be judgmental against one another to be a humanitarian, as Mr. Jackson was and to touch someone’s life, to make an impact to love unconditionally and to leave something of meaning and purpose to pass on to the next generation. As Michael said in the man in the mirror, look at that person in the mirror and ask yourself what you can do and contribute to, in making this world a better place. He will be remembered in history as a lot of things I’m sure but to me; he will be remembered as a positive life force and remarkable human being, a teacher of kindness, compassion, love and how to be a great humanitarian in life. Mr. Jackson did just that…. now it’s our turn so I thank you Michael for the memories. And not only do I celebrate your life of giving and song but I will do my best because my friend to give it my all because you gave it yours. My heartfelt condolences go out to Mr. and Mrs. Jackson and the entire Jackson family at this difficult time in your lives. I hope within time it will ease your pain and allow you to reflect on the beautiful memories of your loved one to brighten your days and sustain you. Thank you! Jackson 5 for the lovely childhood memories, stay strong and blessed.
