Nia Long Says Slavery is No Different Than Fur

Nia Long is the latest celeb to join the People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) signature campaign “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur.” Cute, although three cheers for Photoshop (besides her body appearing disproportionate and belly button-less, nobody would have that much of their skin touching a subway train!). Long sat down in a video interview with the animal rights activists group and had this to say about joining the effort:
“It’s a clean beautiful ad but the message is clear from that one photo, from that one image that all living things should have the right to live….I’ve realized how important it is that we really take responsibility for the environment, for treating animals with love and care just like we would any human being. I really do believe that all things that have been given life deserve to live life. It’s no different, in my opinion, from slavery or the Holocaust it’s just that we’re not dealing with human beings, we’re dealing with animals, but it’s still a living thing.”
OK, kudos for being down for a cause that you believe in Nia, but did you just liken animal rights and fur to slavery and the Holocaust!?

No, it is not the same, killing animals for their fur is wrong, but we aren’t killing them just because they’re animals like in the holocaust nor are we making them do grueling work like with slavery. You should definitely sue your school system if you think like that and realize that the Holocaust and slavery are not simple like the use of fur…..girl just sit down and don’t say a word without a script in your hand.

That is such a ignorant opinion.I bet if Nia lived during slavery she would reconsider her statement.It is not the same.Just like when a individual choses not have anything to do with certain family members.Now thats a right.But to compare fur and slavery is foolish Nia.I don’t agree with that. Just Like I don’t consider myself of mixed race.I have no contact with my biological parents that how I want it.My biological mother is half african american and half white.My biological father is all african american.My race is african american.I have never checked other.I never second guessed my identity either.Regardless of my biological mother being of mixed race.My race is and will always be african american.Or in other incidents perhaps a individual has chosen not have anything to do with long lost family members cousins from a biological mother side etc.You leave them alone and go on with your life.Some people become obsessed when you tell them NO.I lived through it with long lost family members(caucasian cousins) from my biological mother side.Why don’t people just leave you alone when you have made it clear that you don’t want to know them at all.Instead of making up lies from its bc they are caucasian to money lies.It was never about race.Just accept that this is America and people have the right to chose not to have anything to do with people they don’t want to.Stop obsessing and lieing.Especially over a period of time 2006- to current 2009.Now, I have lived through a modern day from of slavery Nia.You don’t have a dang clue.Talking about fur is equal to slavery.You don’t know what I have lived through since 2006.People who would like to use money as a modern day from of slavery.It’s shameful what some people use money as leverage to stalk others.And Fur and slavery is not the freaken same.
