Tameka Raymond: It’s Because I’m Dark

The other day the future ex-Mrs. Usher took to The Huffington Post (gon’ show them boys you read) to write about the issue of colorism and how it continues to exist within the black community.
In her well-written piece, Tameka Raymond, chalked up a lot of the “hate” she received to being dark-skinned(edeed).
She wrote:
“In fact, I have read similar comments about myself that I am ‘dark, aggressive, bossy and bitchy.’ It has been stated that my husband should have been with a “younger, more beautiful” woman. Astoundingly, the majority of the remarks come from African-American women and are mimicked by others. Sadly enough, I don’t know nor have I met 99% of those making these assertions. Funny, how we can judge another without having personally seen, interacted with or experienced a person’s character.”
Let’s be fair to Tameka Obama: Our community still largely is color-struck and I’m sure she has had to deal with people harboring prejudices towards her for such ignorant reason. It’s a sad and unfortunate reality that we should all fight to evolve from.
But, as far as Tameka trying to tie the issue into her deal with Usher: No, ma’am.
There was footage of Tameka having a bit of a diva-inspired attitude floating around online. There were rumors of her being possessive. There was talk that Usher’s mom didn’t like her. And, unfortunately, we live in an ageist society where it’s not normally acceptable for a young man to be with an older woman.
However, Chilli’s not a light bright, and people didn’t come at her crazy on the Web.
Even now, there are reports online of Tameka getting into e-fights with various Atlanta-based bloggers – both of whom fail the brown paper bag test as well.
That’s not said of Chilli, or Demi, and last time I checked, people give it up to David Bowie for marrying Iman. Nor did anyone say anything when Usher dated Naomi Campbell.
So, while we feel you on the light skin, dark skin, my Asian persuasion (© Janet) issue, don’t you go trying to cop out as to why got those furious fonts, Tameka.

Tameka, will you please get off of the internet and raise your children. I can clearly see why Usher moved on. Even though you are older, your maturity level is not where it should be. It has nothing to do with your skin color.

Tameka is right on the money – please read the “Willie Lynch Letter” and enlighten yourselves. my mom is very dark, my dad is very light, i have a very light sister and a very dark sister, the rest of us lie somewhere in the middle. both the light and dark sister were teased, jumped and called names because of their skin color. We as a people have progressed but the struggle is not over. please Wake up from the daze!!!

I don’t think it has to do with the color of her skin because she is not that dark I think it’s the fact that everybody think she is a gold digger and as close as Usher is with his mother and his mother dislikes her says alot. Sometimes our mothers see things that we don’t. I think Tameka is very unattractive and look like a man and the fact Usher mother don’t like her is the reason people don’t like her. She need to let it go and prove that she wasn’t in it for the money she wasn’t with him long enough to really get any money and I doubt he is going to be a deadbeat dad

i have sooo waited this moment to put you on blast!!get over yourself Tameka …it iz what it iz..i can’t belive that you are tryin to play the color card when u know it has nothin to do whith your color sweetie it has eveything to do with who you are.flashback..you left your husband(remember) you were married when you met Usher and 3 kids thinkin your had found your pot of gold…and on top of it you tried to come between Usher and his mother.That was a real idiot move because as you can see their relationship is mending and she will always be a part of his life.what real women does that? I am just so happy that he saw you for the person that you really are and is still young enough to regain his career and life.True. i never met you and wouldn’t want to you lack character and self esteem something that you will never be able to pass onto your kids.I HOPE that C.hilly still holds a place in her heart for him and that maybe they can rekindle their relationship.As for you Tameka soon to be ex Mrs Raymond no husband,5 kids, and no career to speak of I would say it sucks to be you right about now!!!
I have seen dark complexion women that are cute and attractive. Look like Tameka Foster had her skin bleach. Michelle Obama is unattractive and so is Tameka Foster. Tameka look like she could be a man. I do not know what Usher saw in her. She has 3 children from other relationships and she didn’t look like his type. He might as well stay with Chilli from TLC. They made a cute couple.
You heard the slogan “Milk does the body good. Make-up does a lot of women good. Take away some women make-up and they look ghostly. There are a lot of them out there.
This woman is very pretty, I think that many lighter skinned blacks are extremely jealous of dark skinned women. They utilize their color to hide the true meaning of how they truly feel about themselves. The world has a tendency to cater to those who carry some of “Massas Blood!” Yes, Chilli is not that light either, but she has that curly, wavy type of hair that people tend to admire. Chilli and Tameka are very attractive women, I don’t think Usher is color struck at all. He appears to love black women in an array of shades. There is nothing more beautiful than the beauty of a women of African descent because her beauty is unique.
It’s a shame but race, color, money, age will always be a factor in a relationship but love, respect and communitcation should be the most important ones. Sometimes in-laws feel threaten by newcomers into the family, mothers’ even. Appreiate the good times and pray for the strenght of each loved one envoled. From this photo looks like she had some touch-up too so she know the game well.
Tomeka, I think you are gorgeous. A marriage is a union between two people. You cannot become one flesh with your mother-in- law, only her son, which happens to be Usher. Regardless to what critics say,which there will always be, you are entitled to his earthly goods. I am hoping for the very best in all of your endeavers. Last I checked it was not a crime for the spouse to support the family he vowed to cherish, love, and support until death and I haven’t seen an obituary with Usher Raymonds name in it!

The way a person looks is truly here nor there… is it that we do not feel that so called “ugly” people do not have a chance at being happy? I say this because of the ignorant comments I see on how a person looks is distorted. Some people say that Michelle Obama is ugly, what is the real point when one says this? Why do we have to publically comment on how ugly a person is? If you get up in the morning and fix yourself up and present yourself to the world all the while exuding confidence then why should you be thought of as less? Where is nice? where is courtesy? If someone else is more attractive why does it mean that someone less than that means they are unattractive? I don’t think people are thinking about what they are saying.
When one looks in the mirror do what YOU see? The only way that Tameka Foster can even be considered ugly is if she had an ugly character. Yet most of us do not know this woman personally. Only people that have come into serious contact with her can know that. Granted there are things that she has done that seem questionable. All people do not get along with everyone. She is not the first one that has not gotten along with her mother-in-law and she won’t be the last. Maybe she should have done some things differently. What should have been most important to her was how she treated Usher and made sure that HE was happy. Yes, some things she did was questionable and I truly believe that a relationship is doomed when it does not begin right. Dumping one partner to be with another is not a good beginning.
