When Wasn’t Michael Cool?
Published by Runteldat on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 12:00 am.Dope cover, but see the headline, “When Michael Was Cool?”
Is that a little offensive to the legacy of the King of Pop?
Jermaine Dupri seems to think so.
Michael Jackson’s almost brother-in-law (but Brandy said almost doesn’t count) took to his blog to lash out at GQ editors, accusing them of throwing shade all the while trying to make money off Mike’s name.
He wrote:
“HOT COVER WACK A– TITLE. SEE THIS IS THE S–T THAT PISSES ME OFF PEOPLE WANNA USE THIS MAN TO MAKE THEM MONEY BUT CONTINUE TO THROW LIL SNEAK DISSES. AS FAR AS ANY FAN WOULD SAY, HE WAS COOL HIS WHOLE LIFE. I SAY THAT BECAUSE THE FANS ARE THE ONES THAT’S GONNA MAKE THIS COVER SELL 3 TIMES MORE MAGAZINES THAN THE LAST ONE SO WHY TITLE IT THIS?”
I’m inclined to agree with JD. If Michael were still alive would he be on the cover of GQ?
I highly doubt it, which means if they’re going to make money off of him couldn’t they at least be a little nicer on the cover?

Spread the word not to buy the magazine. Real fans that read the title will not get it anyway. I wrote to the Today Show about the couple who won tickets to go to the memorial and them said they were putting them on Ebay because some months earlier they lost their job and couldn’t afford to make the trip. The knew this when they applied for the tickets. Not a true fan but just trying to find a way to make money off of him.
Michael was nothing but the best and everyone know it.
I grew up listening to MJ music. The man was one of the most talented entertainers in the business. He was loved around the world, and no matter what was said about him so many of us loved him. Magazines, tabloids, and any other people that can make a dollar by negative comments will do so. It is up to us to shut them down by leaving the garbage on the shelf. MJ gave to tons of charities that many people didn’t know about. If everyone will just focus on his contributions to music, charities, and his other good qualities they will certainly out weigh those ugly comments.
To all of the TRUE fans of Michael Jackson, please don’t buy the GQ Magazine. It really does come down to dollars and cents and for those of us who really love Michael, don’t play a part in this exploitation!
I grew up with MJ’s music. MJ was his own worst enemy, leaving others
behind to pick up the pieces. His music was great he was a disapointment.
Yes I am a fan, but I do not walk around with blikers on. MJ had a lot of
skeletons in his cupboard. We will never know what really happened.
Everyone is playing hide and seek with the facts and those close to him
are protecting themselves. My thoughts and prayers are for the children,
which seem to be forgotten in all this mess. Michael has a lot to account
for in death. He got a way with such a lot when he lived.
I remember and will enjoy his music, but for the rest I will wait and see
what the future news holds.
Choosen he was, so there is nothing anyone could say or do to take anything away from his life & certainly not his death , his gift could have only come form GOD ALMIGHITY & no one else. Anything form GOD you don’t have to defend it , it stands on it’s on, so forget the haters they are stuck on hateing . GOD is LOVE . Michael is at peace now. GOD called him home out of all this mess.
I read these posts…all but ONE made no sense at all. MJ was the greatest entertainer of the 20th century and we all grew upo listening to him since ABC, but seriously, he hadn’t had a hit or hot single in how many years?? His death was untimely and he will be missed. But he had not been shown this type of love by the “fans” when he was still alive. Media has always been shining the light on him, good and bad. Quite frankly, Dangerous was the last orignal album that was the MJ we grew up lovin. Let him rest in peace, but let his memory be what he really was…a truly talented entertainer, a man, a human being who put on his pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us.
SAD STORY BUT PEOPLE WILL CONTINUE TO TRY TO PROFIT OFF OF MJ”S NAME. LET THE MAN REST IN PEACE!! OR IN HIS WORDS LEAVE ME ALONE!! JUST STOP DOGGING ME AROUND!!
Wow! This stuff will never end. I wish they would let Michael rest in peace. Let’s move on to the state of the union and leave a private matter alone. Did anyone know that our congressinal leader had a moment of silent prayers when MF died! If we must concentrate on MJ let’s hope that his kids will live happy norman lives. I hope that his estate can provide for his kids and his mother appropriately. I hope that his family remains strong and united. And if this united thing doesn’t happen remember everything changes when someone dies. Whether you are rich or poor!
RIP Mike;I love you f@$k what the haters say about you; they need 2 fall back!
This has always been TRUE about “The New York POST” toilet paper. They were proudly the first to allegedly start using the term “Wacko Jacko” to identify OUR Great Brother. Minister Farrakhan was right back in the 90’s when he warned Michael That the enemies of change (and all Black people’s rise) were conspiring against him to reduce his status and credibility amongst his own people in America. The devil has got to do what the devil must do to fulfill the scriptures, before God will remove them all from the earth forever, and we will see Michael again. read your poison book.
i like mj n i’m not trying to diss him or nothing but he wasn’t always cool he lots thousands of fans when he went through them molestation trials so i would say he wasn’t always cool n everybody is making money off him why do u think he’s been on all these magazine covers lately. u can’t name the last covers he was on before he died. r.i.p mj

I’d like to share a very interesting place with you__ Rich Flirts.com __. It brings gorgeous girls and wealthy men together. After checking it,I saw a lot of celebrities there, including many Hollywood stars. It’s a great website to date a beautiful woman or handsome guy there.
It’s always been said:”When folks are intimidating by you, they talk about you”. When people don’t understand someone, they make it negative. The crazy theing about this is, it’s a lose/lose situation. If we stop allowing the media to get big by giving them our money and our time, perhaps stuff like this wouldn’t even exist.I agree with everyone’s comments. But are we really willing to put a stop to it? Can we put our nosiness aside for the integrity of ourselves and our icons?
For most-the answer is NO!
Yeah, Michael Jackson was always on top. He is gone now and he still is?
Enough said. The Greatest.
