Oprah Show Ends In 2011

If you were ever hoping to be in the house for an Oprah show, better act fast! Oprah will end her show at the end of its 25th season in September 2011, her production company Harpo Inc said yesterday.
The media mogul will make the official announcement at the end of her talk show today, as well as disclose the reasons behind the decision.
Word is Ms. Winfrey plans to concentrate on the forthcoming cable channel, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, which is expected to draw subscriptions from 70 million American homes. While telling her staff of the decision to end the talk show, she made it clear that she will not transfer the show to her cable channel, but she is expected to appear on the channel in some form. The rumors say she will close up shop in Chicago, where she has lived since 1984, and move to Los Angeles.
By now it seems like anything Oprah touches will turn into gold, but what do you think about her ending the iconic show? Who do you think could fill her shoes?

When Opray set up OWN can she kindly consider broadcasting to her folks across the water in the UK. Thanks
I don’t think anybody could fill her shoes, but who ever takes her place will have to have their own shoes, and bring their own thing to the table- otherwise they will be consider copycats and that won’t last very long- I love what Oprah brings to the table and it will be sad to see her leave, but all great things must come to end!
It is interesting that the show is going to end just before the 2012 election… maybe she will be doing something political…
I dont know if Monique can “take her place” but Monique is definitely up there!
JEREMY SAID IT ALL!
Hey mami…. What about Africa??? Will u send some distorted signal for us????
WAS UP WITH U?
A few years ago, my wife and I were discussing the ‘what will we do if Oprah shuts down her show’ issue. Well, it is upon us and now we will endure a host of imitators that will sappyfy the genre with over-Oprahing!
But let us honor and thank Oprah for her work – and, especially, her kind and sincere heart.
Stick around Ms. Winfrey – we will be watching, still.
Our best to you, Oprah,
Tom in the Great NW
I am a great Black writer who is about to be published Please give me a call for review/production.
