Brandy’s Mama Explains

February 7th, 2008

So it seems Sonja Norwood, mom of R&B songstress Brandy, tried to tie things up neatly with the Kardashian family over the whole credit card abuse deal. Seems Ray J, Kim’s sex-tape partner, and Brandy, who was a client of Kim’s during her stylist days, urged mom not to sue.

“When the fraudulent charges were brought to their attention, they apologized profusely, and advised us, through their attorneys, that they would pay the debt in full. However, they have since reneged on that promise,” Norwood told People.com. The “investigation has revealed that the Kardashians used their two stores and other stores that I have never visited to take advantage of me. I very much look forward to having the Kardashians account for their misconduct in a court of law.”

Sonja means business. Don’t ever play with the mama of a fading pop singer and a two-bit porn star.

Brandy’s Mom: Kimmy’s a Crook

February 4th, 2008

Either Brandy’s mama, Sonja, is hard up for some loot. Or Kim Kardashian is a thieving beeyotch.

According to TMZ.com, Sonja Norwood filed a lawsuit Monday in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming that in 2004, when Kim was a stylist, she was given permission to use Sonja’s American Express card to make “one (and only one)” purchase on behalf of Sonja. Then, Kim allegedly passed the card around to her siblings – Khloe, Kourtney and Robert Jr. The suit claims in 2006, the fam racked up $62,793.83 in unauthorized charges. And, in 2007, they blew another $57,841.82. Total: $120,635.65. Some charges were made at Kardashian-owned stores Dash and Smooch.

Kimmy denies the allegations: “We have her signature on all items.”

Something’s not right here. Is Sonja not checking her bill regularly? Why didn’t she hem up Kim and cancel the card back in 2006? Guess Brandy ain’t been in the news enough, you know with all the reckless driving…

No Charges for Brandy

January 2nd, 2008

For Brandy, 2007 ended on high note, as prosecuters decided not to file any misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges against the R&B singer for last year’s chain-reaction car crash that resulted in a woman’s death. Why? Insufficient evidence. Had she been charged and found guilty, Brandy was looking at a year in jail and a $1000 fine. She’s not completely off the hook, though. There’s still the matter of three civil suits — one seeking $50 million in damages — filed by the victim’s families.

Where’s the Justice?

November 30th, 2007

Lawyers are wondering why the L.A. City Attorney’s office is still on the fence about whether to charge Brandy with involuntary manslaughter after her reckless driving helped cause the death of mother and wife Awatef Aboudihaj almost a year ago.

“There is a death and obviously reckless driving involved, which is enough evidence for an involuntary manslaughter charge,” says Bill Sayed, the lawyer representing the family of Aboudihaj to TMZ.com. “As to why the City Attorney has taken this long? I think we would all like to know…Brandy continues to live life with really no negative results … doing what Brandy is doing … as if though nothing has occurred here.”

Should she get jail time, or are the millions of dollars she’s been sued for enough punishment?
