LaKisha Picks Up Fantasia’s Slack

January 8th, 2008

Hit-and-miss “Color Purple” star Fantasia gave her final performance on Sunday. According to TMZ.com, fans reportedly waited in the cold for several hours to snag an autograph from the powerhouse singer, but she’d left the building unbeknownst to them. Good thing “Idol” alum LaKisha Jones was on hand to fill in. After attending the show, Jones was gracious enough to sign autographs – on photos of Fantasia.

Phooey on Fantasia. Ki-Ki - enjoy that fan love while you got it!

Fantasia, Not Preggers

December 20th, 2007

Whomever said Fantasia Barrino had a bun in the oven, got it all wrong — or so her rep says.

“Fantasia is not pregnant and the Internet rumors are entirely untrue,” Barrino’s rep confirms to Us.com about the “Idol” winner’s alleged baby by Young Dro. “It is true that she has missed some performances because she has gotten sick from time to time over the nine months, but doing eight shows a week is a lot so she missed a few.”

So…sick, like runny-nose sick? Or sick, like morning sickness-sick?

Fantasia, M.I.A

December 12th, 2007

Anybody seen Fantasia? Sources say she’s missed 50 performances from her Broadway role as Celie in “The Color Purple,” causing hysteria among those who paid to see her. Her absence from a recent show even brought a child to tears.

From the NY Post: Since summer, the occasional star of “The Color Purple” has missed nearly 50 performances, production sources say. Following a three-week vacation caused by the strike, she dropped last Friday’s performance, causing pandemonium in the lobby of the Broadway Theatre. An 8-year-old girl sobbed uncontrollably when she heard Fantasia was not going to be in the show. “It was very sad,” my lobby spy reports. “Her mother was trying to explain to her that Fantasia was sick, but the girl didn’t understand and just kept crying.”

Producers have reportedly refunded tens of thousands of dollars worth of tickets because of her no-shows. Several weeks back, the “Idol’ winner said the show was taking a toll on her. But day-um, is it like that?
