It was only a matter of time. Kimora Lee Simmons filed for divorce from Russell Simmons on Tuesday, reports People. The couple, who married in 1998, publicly separated a year ago.

In court papers, Kimora, 32, cites irreconcilable differences and asks for legal and physical custody of the couple’s two daughters, Ming, 8, and Aoki, 5. She requests that Simmons, 50, get “reasonable child visitation … to be accompanied at all times by the children’s nanny and security personnel.

Well, good for her. Russell helped make her a fabulous mogulette. Now she can marry Djimon and have all his babies.

How much? In between gushing about how BIG Djimon Hounsou’s….billboard-sized underwear ad is in Hong Kong, Kimora Lee Simmons shared with People magazine how she plans to honor her recently deceased pooch, Zoe.

“There is a company that makes diamonds out of your loved ones,” she said. ”[They] make diamonds from a little of the carbon from the ash, so I might do that. I might turn her into a diamond.”

Alrighty then.

Well, Ming and Aoki Simmons might have a little company soon. According to the NY Post, Kimora and boyfriend Djimon Hounsou are expecting a bambino. Of course, the source is unnamed and Kimora’s peeps aren’t commenting, so who knows? But if their romance is as steamy as it looks, we wouldn’t be surprised if Kimora wasn’t already designing a fabulously blinged-out baby room.

Rumors are circulating that Kimora Lee Simmons and her African king Djimon Hounsou are engaged. A big fat diamond ring on Kimora’s finger was the tip-off. Reporters on the scene say she was happily flashin’ it around at a Baby Phat Fashion Week after party. We ain’t mad at her.

Just when we thought Kimora Lee Simmons deserved the Best Ex-Wife Ever award, the NY Post’s Page Six is reporting that Ms. Baby Phat has been talkin’ smack about Russell’s girlfriend.

From the Post: The diva ex-model, who’s currently dating Djimon Hounsou, was overheard telling a friend she was “ready to get on with life” after her split from Russell Simmons. The two have seemed to be friendly, with Kimora even throwing Russell a birthday party last month at Guastavino and inviting his new girlfriend, Porschla Coleman. But she was overheard by the same source saying she invited Coleman that night to meet the “major players” because she “wants this stupid b - - - h to get a clue.” “The exes are all very civil, there’s no negativity,” said Kimora’s rep.

Is she capable of this? Naaaah.

…Kimora Lee Simmons! The Fab One threw a surprise, black-tie shindig on Sunday for ex-hubby Russell, who turned 50. A bunch of A-listers were in effect (Patti Labelle, Alicia Keys, LL), plus a host of rich people you’ve never heard of. And according to the NY Daily News, the exes were arm-in-arm with their current loves — Russell with Porschla (Porsch-la?) Coleman, and Kimora with Djimon Hounsou.

Now that’s how you divorce somebody!

P.S. To my partner in crime, crytical1, who theorizes that Kimora’s only with Djimon for the hot, African sex, The Fab One described her sex life to a reporter as “pretty okay at the moment.” Pretty okay? Kimora, we’ve seen Djimon in the Calvin Klein underwear ads. Stop playin’.

Far be it from me to say who should be dating who, especially in the zany world of entertainment. But some couples, at first glance, just don’t make sense, like Vivica Fox and 50 Cent. Like Bobby and Whitney (before we saw her ghetto side). Like Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley. Like Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupree (who have grown on us by now). Like Beyonce and Ja…anywho, it’s my job to comment, so here I go.

Rihanna and actor Shia LeBeouf: If they are in fact dating, um, why? The Umbrella-ella-ella girl reportedly said she dug white guys, which, you know, is her thing. But this white guy?  Mismatch.

Djimon Hounsou and Kimora Lee Simmons: Beyond modeling, don’t you wonder what these two have in common?
