Supermodels always have an ugly duckling story, don’t they? Iman recently told the press that her own father had to bribe a family member to take her to the prom.
From the NY Daily News: “When I had my prom, my father had to pay my own cousin to take me to it,” the Somalian stunner said at the Safe Horizons Benefit Wednesday night. “He had to pay him a lot of money, at least a couple of hundred dollars. No one wanted to take me out…I was an ugly duckling compared to the other girls. The other girls were fatter than me. They like them round in my country!”
I still don’t think she’s attractive. She looks like Skeletor.
That’s not a real “ugly duckling” story. That’s just–a not having a prom date story. T

Don’t “hate”. You may not find her attractive,but she worked very hard to get where she is in an industry that doesn’t like us no matter how light you might be. I’m proud that an African none-the-less made it to her stature without lowering herself with talk shows or the like. She is dark and proud without bleaching or surgery. Dark models are few and far between and help younger girls know that they are beautiful. Appreciate that if nothing else. We need more uplifting, society does enough to try bring us down and break us up.

@Teffy…This has nothing to do with light or dark skinned. I just don’t think she is attractive. That doesn’t take away from her success or any charity work she has done.

She’s gorgeous…She’s the only sistah running around with her own look-everyone else is a tired carbon copy of what is deemed as beautiful in our society, even though she is older-she’s still a breath of fresh air!
