I tell you one thing Lisa Raye is fair skinned but she looks fabulous. I hope that alot of these young women look as good as Lisa Raye when they get to be her age. I love Jasmine Guy and she is very talented but she does appear to be prematurely aging, and this started some time ago. Perhaps she hasn’t been taken care of herself or didn’t avoid the sun as much as she should. Being fair skinned, most times can subject one to premature aging, so you have to be careful with your skin. However, she doens’t appear to be bothered so why should we care?

All this does is reaffirm the fact that light skinned people age much quicker than dark skinned people. I am a Black man that has a sister brown skinned who is 51 years old, and if you seen her you would say WOW! This is without make up. So I am in agreement that she started aging quite some time ago while she was on “A Different World”. You could see she didn’t look as young as her fellow cast members.

I can’t say I am surprised by Jasmine’s picture…we all age/will age but some will do it more gracefully than others.

I was sort of taken aback by the picture…Jasmine is only one or two years older than me…in fact, she married one of my husband’s high school classmates and I was shocked to see her looking so poorly…I mean, I’m only 42 years old and I don’t look like that…I can believe the claim that she has Lupus…I wish her well and hope she takes care of herself…But on the real, don’t EVER come out the house without combing your hair!!!(and a dab of lipstick wouldn’t hurt either)

I agree that she started looking old toward the end of the show. I think one reason is she is so small and thin. This works well for some when they are younger, but when a person gets older they sometimes need a lil fat on their body to help slow the aging process. I am a fan of hers and I love her to death on A Different World. Another factor is the genes you know the girl is biracial (although she admits she is a black woman which i applaude) that could also be the white part of her coming out in full force. Everyone knows the saying “black dont crack”.

Well I’m not going to make any nasty comments because the woman is not in the best of health. I read some time ago that she had medical issues. Not sure if it’s Lupas as someone mentioned. I think Jasmine Guy is a beautiful woman. She is happily married and raising her children. She is intelligent and very inspiring. Her mother is caucasian. Caucasians lack melanin in their skin. Melanin, which african americans have that allows our skin to tan, also preserves the skin and we don’t age as quickly as some other racial groups. Obviously, she doesn’t have much melanin in her skin and has aging issues. But I know for a fact she is happy and content with her life. In response to Norman Johnson Nov.21/07, what an ignorant statement to make regarding how light skinned people age faster than darker skinned people. I am light skinnes 51 years old with 2 daughters, 31yrs old, and 12. I do not have one wrinkle!!! People can not believe I’m 51. Most people guess I’m somewhere between mid thirties to early forties. I happen to have good genes, and I take care of my skin.
