Beyonce is a good performer and singer, but I think she starting to get a little big headed. I mean we got real powerful singers out there like Alicia Keys, Keisha Coles,Jill Scott, and the chic that song on JayZ lost ones. So I mean she good but she not all that. We got singer who can REALLY SING out there and you don’t see them throwing a fit, because they know they got a real talent.

I think this is a dead wrong move and I’m a Beyonce fan. To suck up to NARAS is the wrong move here. Beyonce has plenty of money and fame while writers are fighting for basic rights of making money off their work. In this instance shwoing signs of solidarity with NARAS is the wrong move. She may have difficulty in the future trying to get roles because as we’ve seen, it’s pretty hard for Hollywood to go on as usual with the writers…who are often the least paid.
This is bad move and she and Matthew need to rethink it and set a tone for other artists.

Well I`m not surprised by Beyonce latest move. If she wouldn`t conform to laws when she was supposedly going to perform in a Muslim country last year why we she then past up this opportunity,duh? Being that I work on the money side of the entertainment industry ( business management), I have a different take on the srtike alone. People are losing their homes and going furthur into debt over this strike. Everyone is losing, the crew, the actors, the producers, even the writers are getting loans from the guild. The industry as a whole is sufferring big time! I live in Los Angeles, CA and california alone loses over 20 miliion a day over this strike. This is a very costly and devestating strike and a lot of people aren’t realizing that. Since we are only having a FEW awards shows this year ( not to mention they might not do the Oscars) those few shows need to be entertaining because it makes money for the industry. So who cares if she performs, not everything has to do with the “suffering writers” because honestly they aren’t suffering that much.

Here is something you may not know, writers have a hard time getting jobs. About %40 pf writers that belong to the Guild haven’t been working; do not work. This strike is based on the non-working writers’ vote also. So think about it, if you’ve already been sitting home of course you wouldn’t oppose a strike because technically you were already on strike. So it doesn’t hurt ALL the writers and it’s starting to seem a lil selfish. That is just from my stand point and what I’m seeing my clients go through as far as money.

I think that people should respect anyone black women making it happen in todays world. I think B is great, it is great to have a man (your father) look after you and not some white industry trying to take away our black culture. I think both Matthew Knowles and Beyonce show a lack of respect for writers that wrote Dreamgirls. Yeah..some of you are coming up with excuses about she is a singer first, but if she ever hopes to be respected as an actress you show respect to writers that got you there. her acting was a result of her character in Dreamgirls. Elfie’s (jhud) was a strong one and she worked it. Bey character was more passive and I think she played that. The best one for me was Anoke’s role because she had to stay neutral and comedic at the same time.

I understand that Beyonce’s role was being passive. But really, was it challenging to play a female singer? Almost all the roles she acts in is about singers. Beyonce is a singer. I don’t find anything special nor interesting about playing the same role that she naturally portray in real life. Jennifer rocked it there is no question she deserved that oscar. But Anika I will say this. Anika was overlooked as an actress because of popularity and competition going on between both Jennifer and Beyonce. I was quite suprised at the oscars when she sang, she has range. I really think Anika has multifaceted talent that some really took for granted. Where is all this HATE coming from! Beyonce is beautiful, successful and humble. When I hear her speak, she seems honest and tender hearted. Some in the media can try to make her out to be some conceited individual, but I don’t believe that’s true at all. Beyonce has done most of the writing of her songs, and collaborated with other writers in the industry, not necessarily affiliated with the striking writing community. However, and whatever Beyonce does, her activities, her contributions, her talent are usually admonished by individuals who have never attended one of her performances. Black people should learn to be more supportive of their own talent who support black performers (writers, producers and directors). Black people did not call this strike, the white writers did, and to show solidarity, black writers had to participate even though they will be hurt the most with the outcomes. It is the white writers who seek the dollars even due to black writers. That is who you need to be making a comment on.

First this is a writers strike. Not a casting directors strike. I don’t think this will do any harm to her film career. I’m sure there will be several others performing as well, but ya’ll always go for the big fish. For those of you Beyonce haters, hate if you want, but mediocre singer? horrible in dreamgirls? Either your self esteem is so low you hate to see an overly sucessful black woman, or you just don’t follow beyonce. Did you see Beyonce on the Celebrations of Gospel. She was flawless there. If Alicia Keys or Jill Scott (who i love) was at Beyonce status, ya’ll would try to pull her down too. First of all, I thought that pic was her mother and not her LOL. It seem that B loves media attention and any way of plastering herself visually she’ll do. Don’t get me wrong she’s a good entertainer and can carry a note and I didn’t say sing, but an actress she’s not. Also, she’s a little bit over exposed and some of her fans are agreeing as well.
She needs to take some time off and come back hot and fresh. What new material that she has that’s been worth her to have billing for when there are other sisters out there with hot music on the charts? She performing “Irreplacable” and honestly I don’t want to see her sing that. I’m more for Ne-Yo winning for writing the song more than her singing it. That song is up against several hot songs including “Umbrella” and “Rehab”. Starting a conversation that you know that is going to result in someone being ripped to shreds for no good reason, is a good thing? To make matters worst,the target is too easy. Well, my take on the whole writers strike is that it is sad that the writers aren’t getting pais because they are what makes HOLLYWOOD. As far as Beyonce, she is definitely talented, but I think her success is definitely only huge because she outshined and did not give the rest of the girls in Destiny’s child a chance. She is definitely a selfish artists in my eyes when it comes to her success and how she got there, but you have to also blame her father. I think the Grammys are a very important night in entertainment and the show must go on. Bust Beyonce needs a reality check. She is only what people made her, with her money and glamour, that came from the people!

Umm - From a profeesional stand point, I think “B” is messing up if she performs at the Grammys. She is choosing to cross union lines in which these are the same unionized people that play a vital part of her production, when it comes down to recording, musicians, stage production, touring, and all aspects of the performing arts. Crossing the line would like a slap in the face to those who actually asssit her on being the entertainer that she is. The only thing the writers want is the same that the writers within the music business have, and that is getting the paid what’s due to them. Royalties!!! When a recording artis music is used / played, and etc. they must pay into BMI, and that money is sent to the respective Writer of that song. Screenwriters and others in the Visual Arts (TV series, MOvies, and etc.), are requesting the same. At this point the networks are getting all the money. So I think “B” may want to slow her roll…..Her Career can always take a big turnaround for the down hill, especially if she loses support from the people from within the business.

Everyone on this forum has an opinion, like her or hate her, at the end of the day she is still Beyonce and she is a human being.

Is she helping the homeless, the hungry, the down trotten, maybe to an extent with her monetary gain, but she is not the worlds saviour.

With that said, let her do her thing as long as she ain’t hurting nobody. Give other performers a chance to entertain the world.

As for the writers strike, again, she can’t save the world and I can’t see how one entertainer is going to make a difference if he or she does or doesn’t perform. It really is a no win situation.

Get OVER it, haters (like Terence above). Beyonce is the hottest all-around performer since Michael Jackson. She can absolutely captivate an audience. Yeah, her acting is average (Dreamgirls) and her singing is just above average. However, she can dance, is working with wonderful choreographers, and she’s good to watch. I recently bought B-Day and watched it absolutely captivated. I knew she had talent, but I didn’t realize just how much. What’s even better is that, while realizing that she is a star, she is humble about it. I liked her careful and polite responses when every writer was trying to get her hating Jennifer Hudson. The girl has class and poise. She’s a wonderful role model for the African American community. I just hope she won’t get pregnant by Jay-Z and become ANOTHER African American female babymama. If she were to actually get married FIRST and then have a baby, we’ll have to nominate her for ANOTHER NAACP image award.
