A few of President and Mrs. Obama’s eager supporters are a bit riled up over comments supermodel Iman made in her interview with Parade magazine.

What’s got them ready to kick Iman out of the race?

Well:

‘Mrs. Obama is not a great beauty,” Iman says, startling me a bit. “But she is so interesting looking and so bright. That will always take you farther. When you’re a great beauty, it’s always downhill for you. If you’re someone like Mrs. Obama, you just get better with age.”

Now correct me if I’m wrong here, but Iman is essentially saying that while Michelle is no “great beauty,” she’s intelligent and that’s what matters most because beauty fades.

Why are people offended that a person who’s built a career on the superficial acknowledging that beauty fades and intelligence will get you much further?

A person who herself has acknowledged that she’s “average” in comparison to the woman from her home country of Somalia.

I like President Obama and the First Lady as much as the next person, but some people to act like he’s the Jesus Remix and that Michelle ought to be treated like her name is Our Lady of Southside Chicago.

It’s becoming oddly similiar to the Bush zealots of yesteryears. I doubt Michelle Obama even cares.

Iman could have kept that to herself, but do you feel what she said is insulting?

According to the Associated Press, President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, will twirl their way through 10 official inaugural balls on Jan. 20.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee said that the Obamas would attend 10 official balls, one more than President George W. Bush and Laura Bush attended in 2005.

You knew it was going to happen eventually.

Some Hollywood bimbo was going to reference President-elect Barack Obama in the wrong way.

And today’s loser is actress Lindsay Lohan.

During an interview with Maria Menounos of Access Hollywood, Lohan said:

“It was really exciting. It’s an amazing feeling. It’s our first colored president.”

Colored?

Are people really trying to bring back that racist term in 2008?

Notice in the clip that Menounos doesn’t correct or address the choice of words with Lohan.

Talk show mogul Oprah Winfrey — who also is President-Elect Barack Obama’s No. 1 fan — was one of several celebrities in attendance at Chicago’s Grant Park Tuesday night. She, along with folks like Beyonce, Brad Pitt and Jesse Jackson stood alongside everyday people, wiping away tears, cheering and applauding as they celebrated their candidates’ historic win.

Oprah told BBC: “It feels like hope won. It feels like there’s a shift in consciousness. It feels like something really big and bold has happened here, like nothing ever in our lifetimes did we expect this to happen.”

Here’s what others had to say about the win:

Singer Usher: “This will go down in history, in black history, for all of the sacrifices that the great Joseph Lowery and Martin Luther King made, this actually pays off for their sacrifice. … I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say.”

Music mogul Diddy: “I felt like my vote was the vote that put him into office. … And that may not be true but that’s how much power it felt like I had.”

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice: “As an African-American, I’m especially proud, because this is a country that’s been through a long journey, in terms of overcoming wounds and making race” less of a factor in life. “That work is not done, but yesterday was obviously an extraordinary step forward.”

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell: “We’re very, very proud to have a new American President who also happens to be African-American … As I watched [the news anchors call the election] – pretty moving moment. Everybody cried … I am overjoyed.”

Jay-Z will perform Saturday at Cobo Hall in Detroit, according to the href="http://www.freep.com">Detroit Free Press, then Sunday at
Bayfront Park in Miami, according to the
Miami Herald. Tickets are available at Barack’s local campaign
offices.

The hip-hop community has shown much love to the presidential hopeful, who recently
told MTV News that he listens to
Jay-Z and Kanye on his iPod.

“I enjoy (hip-hop), but these days I don’t have the time to listen to
it all the time.”

“I’m a little older than hip-hop culture. I was there at the beginning,
but I was already getting older. … What I’ve appreciated, watching this
hip-hop generation, is to see how entrepreneurial they’ve been. In the past,
musicians oftentimes were commodities. They were just shuffled around. Obviously,
they did well, but they didn’t have the vision to say, ‘I’m going
to build a business. I’m going to build my own studio. I’m going to
create my own production operations.’ I think they’re a lot more sophisticated
than in the past, and that is a wonderful thing.”

“What I’m starting to see is them stretching out more and thinking about
social responsibility and how they can impact the culture in a positive way,”
he said. “And I hope that continues.”

According to Britain’s Daily
Star:

Amy Winehouse was on standby for Busta Rhymes at last week’s Orange Rockcorps gig
in case immigration didn’t allow him in.

Busta finally made it to the Royal Albert Hall on time but Amy, 25, still gave the
rapper her number in the hope of future collaboration.

The hip-hop legend, 36, told me: “I would love to work with her. I think she is
a talented genius of an artist. She won’t pick up the damn phone but that’s OK.
I ain’t mad at her.”

Despite the immigration trouble Busta wants to make England his home.

He added: “In the past I did live in Preston. It’s a home away from home. If John
McCain wins the presidency then I’m definitely moving over here.”

Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times
reports that the Obama turned down Lindsay Lohan, who I normally wouldn’t
write about on this blog were it not for this news.

Apparently, LiLo was interested in becoming very involved in the Democratic ticket’s
bid for the White House — even offering to host a series of events appealing
to younger voters.

However, a top source in the Barack Obama team tells me the actress ”is not
exactly the kind of high-profile star who would be a positive for us.”

Given Lohan’s past problems, plus ongoing brushes with controversy, I’ve
learned the campaign quietly told the actress ”thanks, but no thanks,”
but in far more diplomatic terms.

Lohan has been invited to attend several of the big Hollywood bashes this week —
and also pay big bucks for the privilege of rubbing shoulders with the likes of
Barbra Streisand, Steven Spielberg, David Geffen and other high-profile Hollywood
boosters of the Obama campaign.

Hollywood turned out in droves and raised $9 million for the senator at two Beverly
Hills fundraisers last night. Chris Rock was one of the stars at the $28,500-per-plate
dinner at the landmark Greystone Mansion. But don’t look for any footage of
Barack mingling with celebrities. Television cameras were banned from the events
since opponent John McCain never misses an opportunity to play up Barack’s
celebrity status. Hater!

Wilshire & Washington reports that Michelle will headline an event at
Sam’s home on Sept. 3.

This is the first time Sam has endorsed a political candidate after admitting to
ambivalence in recent presidential elections. He was on hand for a Barack fundraiser,
where top tickets cost more than $30,000, in Los Angeles in June. And earlier this
year, rather than head back to La La Land to be a presenter at the Academy Awards,
Sam opted to travel from Shreveport, Louisiana, where he filmed Soul Men
with Bernie Mac, to three cities in East Texas to drum up support for Barack earlier
this year.

“We need a new face in the world,” Sam told
KETK News at the time. “We need somebody that the world relates to
in a very real kind of way. The face of America was and is this white guy…standing
there telling people we’re Americans and you better bow down to us…and
the world is not kind of hearing that anymore.”

Sam has also been quoted as saying, “Barack Obama represents everything I
was told I could be growing up. I am a child of segregation. When I grew up and
people told me I could be president, I knew it was a lie. But now we have a representative…
the American Dream is a reality. Anyone can grow up to be a president.”
