National Coalition For Men Tells Rihanna To “Woman Up”

Published by Runteldat on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 12:00 am.

rihanna_ama

A group called The National Coalition For Men has released a statement that calls on Rihanna to speak out on her alleged violence against Chris Brown.

They feel her lack of admission is a double standard.  The group’s statement reads:

The National Coalition For Men (NCFM) calls on Rihanna to discuss her own reported violence against Brown as well if she wants to shed light on the problem honestly.

According to court records and other sources, Rihanna struck Brown in the face “numerous times” before Brown assaulted her (’http://news.ninemsn.com.au/entertainment/768865/rihanna-hit-chris-brow…’). NCFM purports although that would not justify his more severe assault, her violence should not be ignored, and if she does not ‘woman up’ to it then her message will be the usual one-sided double standards that leave female perpetration covered up.

The saying, ‘There is no excuse for domestic violence,’ applies to both sexes. Female violence in relationships is not rare but is often hypocritically deemed acceptable or humorous, such as in the film, Sideways. It is part of the cycle of domestic violence, which cannot be stopped without addressing the problem honestly. Children are damaged just by witnessing domestic violence, regardless of its severity.

If Rihanna sincerely wants to raise awareness about domestic violence, NCFM calls on her to be forthcoming about her own violence and to address the problem honestly.

Although Chris Brown seems to have escaped Rihanna’s violent acts without a scar on his face — do you agree with the group’s criticism of Rihanna or is it unfair?

Chris Brown: I Don’t Know Her

Published by Runteldat on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 11:50 am.

I haven’t been one of those people who keep crying out that Chris Brown has been through enough in light of “the incident,” but I can say that unless you actually know the man can you please keep your name out of his mouth in front of a mic?

Bad Girls Club contestant Natalie Nunn is running around telling people that Chris Brown wanted to marry her.

TMZ posted the video of her talking inside of the Bad Girls home, saying he “might beat Rihanna” but “doesn’t beat me.”

Chris Brown took to Twitter to defend himself tweeting:

Exclusive: Mario and Audra Simmons’ Couple Status Confirmed!

Published by Dior Noir on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 12:00 am.

marioaudraMario and RichGirl group member, Audra Simmons, migh’ve been breaking up in the video they shot this summer, but off-camera they are in fact a couple!  The two have been seen out and about for awhile now, but they’ve denied that they’re together while playing it coy with the “we’re just friends” line.  However, a rep confirmed to BET.com that the two are an item.

Our source said they met during Mario’s promo tour, where RichGirl opened for the Grammy-nominated R&B star.

Audra was the lead girl for the “Break Up” video and they started dating shortly before they filmed the video “Thinkin’ About You,” which was about five weeks ago.  The two are dating seriously and, according to our source, “It’s hot and heavy now.”

We knew there was a reason why they had so much chemistry in the videos! Cute!

Mario is promoting his current fourth album, D.N.A. and has been co-headlining the first ever BET 106 & Park tour with Trey Songz. The concert, which also includes Sean Garrett and Day 26 wraps November 25th in Las Vegas.

Mario will also perform at the New York’s Power 105.1 Powerhouse ‘09 concert tonight which also features Chris Brown, The Dream and Keri Hilson. Meanwhile, RichGirl opened for the North American leg of Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce tour and the group has dropped a single “He Ain’t Wit Me Now (Tho).” They’re preparing to release their first album.

Chris Brown Still Mad At Oprah

Published by Dior Noir on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 3:00 pm.

Chris-Brown’s-Bowtie-1

Chris Brown (and his now trademark bow tie) sat down with the Hot 97’s Angie Martinez Show this yesterday. It was more of the same questions about THE incident (Rihanna this, Rihanna that) but he did have Oprah’s name in his mouth again because he feels like she made him the bad guy on a domestic violence episode.

I’m very tight. I don’t diss Oprah because I respect her as a woman and what she does for women all over the world. I just feel that me and her did so much together in the past as far as me working with her school in South Africa. I feel like at the time when I would have needed a helping hand, not to boost my career but for her to reach out to talk to me and Rihanna and say ‘this is wrong..this is right.’ I’m not saying have me on the show. Just help, that’s all i was asking for. It was never a thing where it was like ‘Look I want to help these two young kids’ instead of putting the blame on just one person and bringing up 3 domestic violence guys who got a kick out of doing whatever..and then comparing them to me. I felt some way about it.”

You still mad about that Chris? I mean it could be worse!

While Oprah hasn’t reached out to help Breezy, he did acknowledge Will Smith and Diddy for offering to help. He also shouted out the couple who posted a YouTube video of their wedding party dancing into the ceremony to his song “Forever.”That put me back on the map,” he said. After gaining popularity on the web, the NBC show The Office also did their own version of the “Forever” Wedding entrance.

Out of all the things that people have said about him and all the support he’s gotten in spite of what he did, it’s silly for Chris Brown to still feel some type of way about that one Oprah episode.  He needs to let it go and focus on his upcoming Fan Appreciation tour that kicks off November 15th, ’cause if his fans aren’t feeling his new music it’s really a wrap.

Thank You For Being A Friend, Teyana

Published by Runteldat on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 11:50 am.

teyana-chris

Miss “Google Me Baby” herself, Teyana Taylor, wants to make it known that she’s not like those people who turned their backs on Chris Brown following “the incident” with Rihanna (that’s the PC way of saying domestic violence apparently) .

In an interview with VIBE, Teyana made clear that she stands by her friends:

“A lot of people were jumping on different bandwagons and I really felt like that was wack. Before the incident between him and Rihanna, Chris had always been my brother. When we met we clicked instantly from our fashion styles to our love of basketball to dancing to everything. I’ve known him for four years and I was one of the only people that stood by his side when the situation happened.”

Anyone else got the urge to start singing, “Your heart is true, you’re a pal and a confidant?” Don’t sleep on on The Golden Girls theme song. That’s that knock.

In any event, to those who threw shade, Teyana says you’ll be back:

“When he gets back to where he used to be, a lot of people are going to come running back and smiling in his face. He knows who really are his friends. I think stuff like this happens to really show you who really cares about you.”

With respect to Teyana and Chris, there are other ways to figure out how to separate the real from the fake than a fist to another person’s face. But I get it. Do you?

Will Chris Brown Be Sued?

Published by Runteldat on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 12:00 am.

chris_brown_wrigley

Although Chris Brown may have apologized to Rihanna, his fans, and started his community service there’s some people out there who could care less about his apologies as they are more vexed about their dollars.

Call these people the board members of Wrigley who are reportedly mulling a potential lawsuit against Breezy Fist.

The gum makers had just signed a five year deal with Breezy Fist when his fight with Rihanna occurred. As a result they had to pull ads and shelf the multiple commercials and prints ads that the company planned to use over an extended period of time.

Wrigley had to dissolve their relationship with Brown and has said to have lost millions.

Singersroom quotes sources saying:

“..They are said to be preparing to sue Chris for all the money they lost due to his bad behavior. They spent big bucks on ads featuring Chris along with other celebrities like Jay-Z and Mariah Carey. Since Chris was in them also – everything had to be ditched. Wrigley is mad and we hear they hope to recoup the money Chris caused them to lose with a big fat lawsuit.”

Good luck with that, Chris.

Weekend Fix: Chris Brown to Headline an October Concert! Plus Eve and Russell Simmons

Published by Dior Noir on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 3:00 pm.

chris_brown

Looks like Breezy’s setting up for the comeback!  According to MTV.com  Chris Brown is scheduled to headline Power 105.1’s Powerhouse concert in New Jersey on October 27th (that’ll be a nice break for him from his 180-day hard labor sentence in Virginia!). The show, which will also feature Fabolous, The Dream, Trey Songz, Keri Hilson and Mario, will be the first major promotional event that Chris has participated in to push his upcoming album Graffiti.  What do you think about the concert: is it too soon for Chris to be back on the scene or has he suffered enough?

From good news to bad news: rapper Eve told TheYBF.com that she permanently shut down her Fetish clothing line due to “legal reasons” and she also confirmed she has left her label Geffen Records. Ouch! Times may be hard or maybe Eve is just on to the next thing and focusing more on her acting interests. She’s in the upcoming Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page movie Whip It! and will be guest starring on the Fox TV show Glee for two episodes.

There might have been even more you missed from The 6th Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors which was taped this week!  Apparently Russell Simmons was not at all happy with the show that show which commemorated the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records. Rumor has it that Russell, who co-founded Def Jam, sent an email out to the show’s executive producer and called the show “incomplete at best.” He allegedly said that not having Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye, Damon Dash, LL Cool J, or Irv Gotti involved hurt the show and said that he wasn’t feeling having a comedian host (Tracy Morgan hosted the awards). The show is scheduled to air on October 13th on VH1 so set your DVRs and judge for yourself. In the meantime, have a great weekend! We’ll chat with you next week!

Chris Brown Admits ‘My Heart is Incomplete’

Published by Dior Noir on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 3:00 pm.

rihanna-chris-brown-kfc-kiss-01

Chris Brown tried to keep a composed front while discussing his saga with Rihanna in an interview on Larry King Live but behind the scenes it seems that the singer is pining for his ex-girlfriend.

Last night on his Twitter page (@MechanicalDummy) he Tweeted:

Sorry y’all this, just one of those days” and included this link to a video of his new song “Changed Man” that featured a slide of  pictures of him and Rhi Rhi in happier times.

He then added: “My heart is incomplete … The part that is complete is my love for fans, career, friends, family … god. But I’m missing someone or something.

Though Chris  doesn’t mention Rihanna by name, I think even Stevie Wonder could see that “something missing” he’s referring to is her! Not surprising considering the couple dated for 18 months before the drama that resulted in a judge ruling a “stay away” order for 5 years.

That might be the last time we ever see Chris wear his heart on his Twitter page though. Very shortly after he posted his emotional Tweets he deleted them from his page and updated it with this message (in all caps): “I ain’t postin’ s— else about me (personally). I’m so over all this bulls—.

Guess someone pissed him off with reply comments, or the inevitable media whirlwind that ensued was just too much to handle (although he had to know it would happen! Last week when Chris was at JFK airport and Tweeted “One of the guyz looked like wendy williams. Or was it the other way around….lol.” it definitely made news before he deleted it from his page!).

We’ll see how long Chris can refrain from getting personal on Twitter, in the meantime what do you think about his personal comments?

Weekend Fix: Oprah Checks Chris Brown Plus Janet Jackson and Lil’ Mama

Published by Dior Noir on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 3:00 pm.

Chris Brown and OprahChris Brown has been all up in the news this week because of the interview he did with Larry King earlier this week to discuss Chrianna-gate, but Breezy also went head to head with another media mogul: Oprah.

In the new issue of People magazine, Chris stepped to Oprah when asked about her “show on abuse, inspired by Rihanna” and said:

I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘Okay, I’m going to help both of these people out.

In response, Oprah’s rep told TMZ, “Oprah is very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school, but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs.

How ironic that Chis called Oprah’s actions a “slap in the face!” Boy stop!  Just because you were lucky enough to perform at one of her events doesn’t mean she owes you squat. Period.  I wonder how many more media rounds Chris is going to make about before he gets too busy doing that hard labor.

Also, this Sunday a new episode of America’s Best Dance Crew will air on MTV, but last Sunday ‘Lil Mama sparked a bit of controversy because of comments she made to a transgender contestant, Leiomy Maldonado. When her group, Vogue Evolution, complained that Leiomy was being difficult at practice Lil’ Mama said:

Leiomy, come on. Your behavior…it’s unacceptable. I just feel that you always have to remember your truth. You were born a man and you are becoming a woman. If you’re going to become a woman, act like a lady. Don’t be a bird, like ‘Oh my god, I’m not doing this!’ You know what I’m saying? It gets too crazy and it gets confusing.

GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) received several complaints about Lil Mama’s comments and days later, Lil’ Mama issued a formal apology to GLAAD via a statement: “I would like to clarify anything that was misunderstood from Sunday’s show. My remarks were never meant to be disrespectful regarding Leiomy’s gender nor offensive to the LGBT community, which has been a community that has supported me in all my endeavors. However, in hindsight, I recognize that my words may have come across as hurtful. I spoke with her privately after the taping to express that it was not my intent to offend her or any member of the transgender community and that I still live for Vogue Evolution.

Hopefully Lil’ Mama keeps it cute this weekend (and quiets down her loud outfits while she’s at it)!

Lastly, Michael Jackson was finally buried yesterday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park outside Los Angeles. Just one day before the family gathered to pay their respects, Janet Jackson went to Twitter to show her late brother love:

I love you, Mike, and I miss you. Dunk.,” she Tweeted signing off with the nickname that Michael used to call her.

According to The YBF.com Janet is scheduled to speak on her brother’s death and updates in her life and career in an upcoming issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

Check out the video below of the MJ funeral service.

Have a great Labor Day weekend! We’ll be back next week!

Chris Brown’s Mom Thanks Fans

Published by Runteldat on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 10:52 pm.

chrisbrown-mom

Chris Brown’s mom, Joyce, has released a statement thanking her son’s fans for their continued support and also shared an interesting theory as to what the true source of Chris Brown’s recent legal troubles are.

In her statement released via Chris Brown’s fan club she wrote:

“I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for your continued support. I’m sorry I wasn’t allowed to speak to anyone as this case was on going. I can now say this has been the most painful moment in my entire life, but knowing that you were still standing by Chris side in his time of need made this a little easier for us. Because of all your prayers God brought him through. I just want to say God has never failed me and never will. All moms and dads please stand by your children and pray for their goodness each and everyday. Chris and I love you so much, as the tears fall from my eyes and the pain lingers in my heart I still say thank you God, thank you thank you almighty God. If any of you wonder why I continue to speak of God it’s because I know no other way. I made a promise to him I would never be ashamed of him no matter where I am or who I talk to. You see this whole thing isn’t about Chris it’s about God. He wants to show all of you the goodness of him through Chris. Chris will be addressing all of his fans very soon. We love you so much and so does God. ”

Thank you.”

Now, I’ve never been to divinity school and the most church I’ve probably gotten lately is dancing to Mary Mary’s “God In Me” and watching an old episode of Amen, but I find the idea of God being the source of a domestic violence case to be a sketchy.

What’s holy about a felony?

Chris Brown has the right to get help and continue honing in on his talent, but to paraphrase Tina Turner, “What’s God Got To Do With It?”
