Weekend Fix: Chris Brown to Headline an October Concert! Plus Eve and Russell Simmons

Looks like Breezy’s setting up for the comeback!  According to MTV.com  Chris Brown is scheduled to headline Power 105.1’s Powerhouse concert in New Jersey on October 27th (that’ll be a nice break for him from his 180-day hard labor sentence in Virginia!). The show, which will also feature Fabolous, The Dream, Trey Songz, Keri Hilson and Mario, will be the first major promotional event that Chris has participated in to push his upcoming album Graffiti.  What do you think about the concert: is it too soon for Chris to be back on the scene or has he suffered enough?

From good news to bad news: rapper Eve told TheYBF.com that she permanently shut down her Fetish clothing line due to “legal reasons” and she also confirmed she has left her label Geffen Records. Ouch! Times may be hard or maybe Eve is just on to the next thing and focusing more on her acting interests. She’s in the upcoming Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page movie Whip It! and will be guest starring on the Fox TV show Glee for two episodes.

There might have been even more you missed from The 6th Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors which was taped this week!  Apparently Russell Simmons was not at all happy with the show that show which commemorated the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records. Rumor has it that Russell, who co-founded Def Jam, sent an email out to the show’s executive producer and called the show “incomplete at best.” He allegedly said that not having Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye, Damon Dash, LL Cool J, or Irv Gotti involved hurt the show and said that he wasn’t feeling having a comedian host (Tracy Morgan hosted the awards). The show is scheduled to air on October 13th on VH1 so set your DVRs and judge for yourself. In the meantime, have a great weekend! We’ll chat with you next week!

Uncle Sam Wants YOU Chris Tucker and Diddy

Haven’t we all learned by now that the IRS doesn’t play when it comes to getting their money (Exhibit A: Wesley Snipes and Ron Isley)?  Apparently not.

According to the Detroit News the state of California filed a $3,594,409 lien against Chris Tucker last week for four years worth of unpaid taxes!  No wonder we haven’t seen him around lately, he’s probably busy ducking the tax folks like their name was Big Worm.

Chris hit a career jackpot with the Rush Hour franchise pulling in $20 million a flick, so not really sure what the problem is but considering  the state of California is in a $31 billion debt crisis you know the “Governator” Arnold Schwarzenegger and his people will be back for those ends.

Diddy also owes the IRS back taxes, reports DrewReports.com, though his amount is much smaller at $7,373. Apparently back in 2007 Sean underpaid the federal tax for his Atlanta branch of Justin’s restaurant. Diddy’s people say that it was an address mishap and the IRS was mailing the business papers to an address that the producer hasn’t used in 10 years (right, because snail mail is the only way that the IRS gets in touch with folks?).  Diddy’s reps also say that when he found out about the debt he wrote a check for the amount which should be arriving to the IRS “shortly.” Until that check is signed, sealed, delivered and cashed (hopefully it’s not of the rubber variety), I’m sure the IRS won’t be too impressed with that statement.

Why do celebrities, think that they can escape paying taxes with some having the audacity to let the debt roll on for years (Exhibit B: Lil’ Kim, Foxy BrownMethod Man, Robin Givens, Xhibit, Ruben Studdard, Damon Dash, the list goes on)?  If you have time to brag about your bankroll, party about town, go on shopping sprees and vacations you have the time to dial up your accountant and settle your debt by April 15th.  Priorities people!

No Money, No Wife

People accused Rachel Roy of being a gold digger who only married Damon Dash to get access to his money. How does she prove those naysayers wrong? By filing for divorce and listing “non monetary relief” as the reason why.

What do you have to say now, “haters.” The New York Daily News reports that the soon to be ex-Mrs. Dash filed for divorce this month in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Roy adds yet another lawsuit to Dame’s growing pile of suits. Everyone and their ex-wife have been suing him for money he owes.

As much as it must suck to blow your fortune, look at this way, Dame: In this instance, it’s not cheaper to keep her.

Dash On The Diss

Published by Carrie Blackshaw on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 11:13 am.

Page Six is reporting that Damon Dash is telling more tales about his estranged business partner, Jay-Z. His latest: that Jigga set off a feud with Kanye West by refusing to bestow his bling on Kanye.

Dash claims the simmering beef dates back to a 2003 Chicago concert, where the then-up-and-coming Kanye expected ruling Roc-A-Fella artist Jay to “knight” him by presenting him with a gleaming chain.

But, according to Dash, Jay didn’t want to fork over the chain.

“This n- [Kanye ] was like, ‘Wow. [Jay-Z] ain’t going to give me the chain,’” Dash alleges in December’s Complex magazine. “I had to take off my chain and give it to him, and I was heated. I had the real canary diamonds. That s- cost $40,000! I told Kanye, ‘Yo, you got to give that back when we get off this stage!’”

Dash contends that after Jay-Z violated the code of hip-hop chivalry, “Kanye hated Jay-Z.”

But a rep for Kanye tells us the story is “ridiculous and totally false.”

Others suggested that Dash, whose business relationship with Jay ended badly, has trotted out the story to hype his latest protege, rapper Jim Jones.

“This is sad,” says one source. “Damon does this every time he’s promoting an artist. He just makes things up.”

Despite Dash’s feud claim, Kanye and Jay have performed several times together since the supposed bling diss.

“They’re both on [Def Jam],” says a source. “They’re friends and always have been.”

Another hip-hop insider added, “No one has ever said that Kanye hated Jay. [West, Jay-Z and Dash] were all together at one point every single day. To say he hated him back then is silly.”

“Damon wants to blow [Jim Jones] up,” the source agreed, noting that Dash is producing a documentary about Jones in which Dash introduces the rapper to influential acquaintances, like Vogue editor Anna Wintour. “We’ll see how this plays out.”

Reps for Jay-Z and Dash didn’t return calls. The full interview with Dash and Jones appears tomorrow on Complex.com.
