Singer John Legend celebrated his 30th birthday Sunday night with a party at New York City’s Lucky Strike bowling alley. What kind of cake did he make his birthday wish on? It was piano-shaped.

Barack Obama may have the support of a slew of
Black entertainers, including Common, Nick Cannon, John Legend, P. Diddy, Alicia
Keys, Stevie Wonder and media mogul Oprah Winfrey, but what he’s not getting this
week is any love from the well-respected New Yorker
magazine.

Check out this week’s satirical cover showing a fist-bumping Michelle, toting an
Afro and AK-47, and Barack, in Muslim gear, in the Oval Office, with a portrait
of Osama bin Laden on the wall and a burning American flag in the fireplace.

Portraying the Obamas as terrorists is plain wrong!

“Satire is part of what we do,” New Yorker editor David Remnick said
in a statement. “And it is meant to bring things out into the open, to hold
up a mirror to the absurd. And that’s the spirit of this cover.”

While the Obama camp called the cover “tasteless and offensive”, the
senator himself refused to comment.

John Legend helped lil’ brother Vaughn Anthony celebrate his birthday (along with Grandmaster Flash’s Melle Mel of all people) at The Plumm in NYC yesterday. Never mind that Legend favors the exotic model-type. Which one would you get down with?
