Ashley “A.J.” Jewel’s death has been officially ruled a homicide. Although a preliminary medical report suggested that sickle-cell anemia may have ultimately caused the death of the fiance of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss, A.J.’s official cause of death was listed as “physical altercation resulting in sickle cell trait related exertional collapse.”

According to the Atlanta Constitution Journal the report continued: “Although Mr. Jewell died of complications of his underlying natural disease conditions, [the] complications would not have occurred if he had not experienced the extreme exertion that was part of the physical altercation. Due to the active involvement of another person, the manner of death is classified as a homicide.”

A.J.’s family is angered by the report and unsatisfied with the investigation. “Although the medical examiner’s report released to us yesterday does classify my son’s death as homicide, the report is contradictory because it simultaneously blames a ‘sickle cell crisis’,” said the Rev. A.B. Jewell, Sr.

The family also criticized the release on bond of Frederick Richardson, A.J.’s accused killer. Richardson is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the October 2nd death.

Richardson’s attorney told TMZ, “It’s an unfortunate situation, Frederick is sorry this situation happened and that A.J. died.”

According to a news release A.J.’s family plans to hold a prayer vigil at 7:30pm tonight in the parking lot of the strip club Body Tap, where the fight that led to his death occurred.

Here’s hoping the family is able to find peace and justice is properly served.

But in an interview with The Urban Daily, Kandi Buruss discussed the controversial lyric and revealed that Biggie actually tried to “fly above” and apologize.

Has it been that many years since I paid attention to R&B singer Angie Stone? The line promises to offer “a taste of couture” and help it’s wearers “transition perfectly from fall to holiday.” She lost me with back in 1998 when she was creating Destiny’s Child’s matchy-matchy dresses and costumes but good for her!

Dwight Packing Heat

Did you see the second part of the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion last night?  I was anticipating less fireworks than last year, especially since I had a feeling that Andy Cohen would ask Kandi about her late fiance AJ’s death –  then, “fifth housewife” Dwight Eubanks came on the stage complaining that he felt like he’d “been in church all day” because of the lack drama. Be careful what you wish for!  The tables quickly turned to Dwight when Kim Zolciak outed him for getting a penile implant.  Surprisingly, Dwight owned up to and even owned it! Think his fiance is happier?

Frederick Richardson, the man accused in the fatal beating of Ashley “A.J.” Jewell, the ex fiancé of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss, has been released from Atlanta’s Fulton County jail.

Richardson made a court appearance yesterday and was freed after posting a $10,000 bond set by Judge Karen Woodson, although he was initially held without bond following his arrest after the fight at Body Tap night club.

Last week a Fulton County corner’s report stated that Sickle Cell disease may have been a contributing factor to A.J.’s death. Despite the report, A.J.’s parents told TMZ that they still feel like their son was murdered: “Our son ‘A.J.’ had the sickle cell trait which caused no related medical problems during his life. We feel AJ’s death was a result of the malicious attack by the individual and/or individuals present during the fight.”

Richardson will not return to court until he’s indicted.

When Kandi Burruss’ on again, off again fiance Ashley “AJ” Jewell died two weeks ago, reports attributed his death to a brawl outside of his Atlanta night club Body Tap, but now that the autopsy is in doctors say that may not have been the whole story.

Dr. Kelly Rose of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office told E! News that A.J. may have suffered from the blood disorder sickle-cell anemia. According to the medical examiner, the condition may have restricted A.J.’s oxygen supply and exacerbated his injuries. “Preliminary results are suggestive of [sickle-cell],” said Rose. “The altercation played a role in that, and his underlying disease process contributed to his overall demise,” Rose says.

Meanwhile Frederick Richardson, the man that A.J. fought with that fateful night, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter and is currently being held in an Atlanta jail without bond. A court date has been scheduled for Oct. 20.

Baby Boy(s)

Lil’ Wayne recently confirmed in an interview with the BBC’s Tim Westwood that he and Nivea are expecting a son. This bundle of joy will be the rapper’s third son in a little over a year although this will be the 4th child for Wayne total. Let’s recap: Lauren London welcomed his second son last month,  last October his first son was born in  Cincinnati, and his only girl, Reginae, comes from ex-wife Antonia “Toya” Carter.  I wonder which baby mama’s son will be the cutest?

50 Clears The Air

There have been rumors for some time that 50 Cent and Ciara have a love thang going on and some even say he put a ring on it, but the rapper recently denied that any of that’s true. 50 Cent called into the Rickey Smiley Morning Show to talk about the new album and of course Rickey had to ask: “Are you engaged to Ciara?”

Fiddy responded “Nah I’m not engaged. That was the longest ongoing thing that they said that was never any confirmation to.“ Rickey then asked, “Are ya’ll still together” and Fiddy said “You are saying still like we was.”

Wellthere you have it, we can finally put that rumor to bed.

Tameka “Tiny” Cottle spoke to E! News about how her friend, ex bandmate, and Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star, Kandi Burruss is doing following the fatal beating of her ex-fiance, Ashley “A.J.” Jewell.

Tiny said:

“She’s doing much better. She’s a strong girl. I speak to her every day. I go and visit her. I went to the funeral. Whenever she needs me, I’m there.”

As for her own issues with her fiancé, T.I., the BET reality star said:

“We talk all day and email each other. I see him every week, and I’m just there, ya know? We work as a team.”

The second season of Tiny and Toya is currently filming. The show will reportedly chronicle Tiny as she prepares for T.I.’s release from prison.

Meet Frederick Richardson, the alleged killer of Kandi Burruss’ ex-fiance,  Ashley “AJ” Jewell.

A judge ordered that Richardson be held without bail today until his next court appearance on Oct. 20.

Richardson’s attorney claims Jewell drew a gun and threw the first punch during the fight Friday night outside the Body Tap strip club. The attorney also argued that since Jewell’s death has yet to be determined it would be premature to charge his client with voluntary manslaughter.

The judge essentially told Richardson’s lawyer epic fail despite eye-witnesses corroborating with the suspect’s story that Jewell threw the first punch.

But police countered and said regardless of who started the fight, once Jewell went down, he was unable to defend himself and therefore the charges aren’t likely to change.

Investigators said the two men had an on-going dispute about business matters concerning the club. Richardson worked at the club and Jewell was reportedly attempting to buy part or all of the establishment.

In related news, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Jewell’s funeral will be held Friday at the Ray of Hope Christian Church in DeKalb County.

To say it’s been a rough weekend for Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is a gross understatement. She had already planned to bury an uncle on Saturday and then came an untimely tragedy on Friday night: a fight in the parking lot of Body Tap Club in Atlanta that claimed the life of her fiance Ashley “A.J.” Jewell.

Atlanta police charged Fredrick Richardson, an employee of the strip club and the man that AJ fought with that night, with voluntary manslaughter, though they, like most people who heard the shocking story over the weekend, are still trying to figure out what exactly happened.

At first, Kandi updated her Twitter page and said “Im just in one of those moods where i dont wanna talk” but somewhere in the chaos, she wrote a blog expressing her grief on HelloBeautiful.com. Snippets of the post:

“Why is it that every TIME something great is happening in your life it seems like its accompanied by something tragic? I have lost two very important men in my life in one week. The 1st was my Uncle Ralph, the 2nd is A.J.,” she wrote. “When you loose someone to an illness like cancer it hurts bad, but at least you get a little TIME to prepare yourself for what’s coming….I hate to question God but don’t you hate when you feel like somebody was just taken away too soon? I just feel like A.J just had so much more living to do.”

She also noted that AJ “wasn’t a scrub” and that while he had six kids, he acted like a father to many children including her own. “Now they have no father. That breaks me down inside,” she said.

Last month, Kandi spoke to Essence.com and told them that the couple’s engagement was on hiatus but they remained friends and she was the legal guardian of two of his children. “We didn’t get a chance to spend a little more TIME & make amends,” she lamented in the blog. “Please take it from me, treasure the TIME you have with your loved ones & if there are issues or problems make sure you work it out before you run out of TIME...”

Sad news.  According to published reports, Ashley “A.J.” Jewell, the fiancé of songwriter and Real Housewives Of Atlanta cast member Kandi Burruss, has been killed in Atlanta.  Some reports claim he was the co-owner of the Atlanta strip club, Body Tap, and a fight occurred during a brawl in the parking lot, resulting in fatal injuries.

According to Burruss’ publicist, she is “stunned and speechless.”

Kandi has custody of two of Jewell’s six kids.

Remember that “well written” blog post we told you about that  Tameka Foster wrote about the plights of being dark skinned? Well BV Buzz reports that blog post may have been plagiarized! According to the article author Aisha Curry, who wrote the book ‘Pretty For a Black Girl’  read the piece and had the sinking feeling that she had seen it before…because she wrote it. “Why did I feel so connected to this article? Suddenly, it came to me. It was my work! It was my work, my voice, but in her words,” Curry said. “The only difference between her article and my book is she used ‘dark-skinned’ and I used ‘Black.’”

Curry’s 96-page pocket-size book, which was self-published in March 2008, though Tameka’s reps deny she ever saw the book before writing the article. I guess the topic at hand is one that many women of color have struggled with, so it’s not like Tameka couldn’t have come up with the topic on her own, but after some of the letters I’ve seen that Tameka has written bloggers in the past, I was a little surprised at her poise with the pen in that blog. I’mjustsayin.

Wigging Out

Did you see the Real Housewives of Atlanta last night?  Luckily no one tried to pull Kim Zolciak’s hair out, but on the internet this morning for some reason, people were still wondering if those shiny blond locks are real. If there was any confusion Kim’s hair is a wig! Not only did she reveal this on the season one reunion, she keeps addressing it in interviews and supposedly even has a wig line that’s coming out soon.  Last night Kim appeared on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live and some un-aired footage hit Bravo.com where the two extensively talked about Kim’s extensions.  “So literally it’s woven in?” Cohen asks.  “No I just put it on honey!”  Kim said of her wig.  She did admit that there’s several pictures out there of her at the beach with her real hair and she said “my natural color is black” (surprise, surprise).  Not sure why everyone is so fascinated by Kim’s hair piece, it’s not like everyone else on that show hasn’t dabbled in some Yakki (I mean even Kandi had a piece glued in the front of her short bump and curl before the photo shoot on yesterday’s episode!).  Let the girl have her Barbie weave.

Kelis still can’t keep her hands out of Nas’ pockets! It wasn’t enough for her to receive a nearly $55,000 child and spousal support settlement after her divorce, according to TMZ, Kelis’ lawyer Laura Wasser has filed documents requesting that Nas pay $281,571 in retroactive spousal support and $29, 522 in retroactive child support. But, that’s not all: because Nas makes over $244k per month, Wasser believes Kelis is entitled to $72, 728 in spousal support and in the future, $17,225 a month in child support. Ok now I am saying she’s a gold digger! Kelis is really trying to take a brother for all he has! There’s no way baby Knight Jones needs all that money, though note to self: put Laura Wasser’s name in my rolodex for the future….just in case!
