LeToya’s Stans Are Pissed

Rumors are flying across the Web that LeToya Luckett was dropped by her label, Capitol records.

That fun fact is false although her official fan site reports that the label has cut funding for her sophomore album, Lady Love, altogether.

If you’re a fan of Toya you’re probably asking yourself when did they even give the girl a quarter to promote her project to begin with?

In response to the label’s decision to give her the same shaft that they give other acts on the “Urban” (re: Black on both sides) rosters – including J. Holiday and Cherish – Toya stans have started a petition hoping to get the word out that Capitol refuses to let Toya be great.

The petition reads:

“We, the fans and supporters of LeToya Luckett are EXTREMELY disappointed at the way the entire “Lady Love” project has been handled thus far. We believe that she has proven she is more than deserving of the same promotion her label mates have received e.g. Katy Perry. We fully understand that her first two singles did not push this album the way we all hoped, but given the promotion they received we are not surprised. However the third single, “Regret” featuring Ludacris, has already shown it has the potential to become her next smash hit single. LeToya’s fans and supporters have already pushed the song into an enviable top 20 position, but we need your full support.

We ask that you provide LeToya with, at the very least, the same promotion that her debut album received, an official add date for “Regret” to build upon its already strong airplay performance, and a budget that reflects a Grammy award winning, Platinum selling artist, with two #1 albums to her credit, so a “Regret” video can be produced and distributed. We understand that money does not grow on trees, and so far the album has not returned your investment, but we know that “Regret” can change all of that with your fully renewed support.”

Should you want to join in the Stop Toying with Toya’s Budget campaign, check out the link in the source section. But I want to warn you: Don’t go on that site and signing your name as “Beyonce’s wig glue.”

Behave yourself.

Twitter Will Mess Up Your Friendship

I’m beginning to think Twitter was designed solely for the purpose of getting celebrities to virtually show their butt cheeks to the world with every ridiculous tweet.

Over the weekend LeToya performed in Dallas and while singing an acapella version of her song, “Regret,” Toya sang this:

“Now you’re at the bar with 1, 2, 3. Poppin’ game, ya look so lame, without me your pimpin’ ain’t the same.”

Then after performing “She Ain’t Got…” she told the crowd, “I know ya’ll know who I’m talking about!”

What prompted this?

Slim Thug recently tweeted:

“If u a R&b singer chick f–k with me Ima make u go platinum.. Give u helluva songs torn, regret, not anymore, she ain’t got etc…gnr.”

Sources close to Team Toya say Slim knows the song isn’t about him and that he’s only doing this for publicity.

Mission accomplished, but that’s not gonna convince of us to download your record, Slim.

The Ghost of DC’s Past Returns

In recent years we’ve learned the whereabouts of most of the lost members of Destiny’s Child.

LeToya Luckett went on to record a platinum solo album. Farrah Franklin must have hit the lottery and not told a soul because she appeared on an episode of Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker.

However, little has been said about what original member LaTavia Roberson has been up to until now. Word is that she’s now ready to fill fans in about her post-DC life via a tell-all book.

Naturally, the book will cover her time with the group, but it’s said she will also speak on her struggles with family (rumor: they thought she was an ATM machine) and other areas in her life and how she’s overcome them.

It’s good to know Tav hasn’t been spending her days throwing darts at pictures of Beyonce and Kelly.

Some people would still be salty, but acting like a bottle of Lawry’s all the time leads to a terrible life. Good for her trying to move on with her career.

Are you looking forward to reading what LaTavia has to say?

LeToya Is Not The Future Mrs. Thug

LeToya Luckett wants you to know that she’s no longer dating Slim Thug.

The two have been spotted at the same place at the same time enough for people to speculate that it’s more than a coincidence. People were claiming the two were engaged.

However, after sitting down with Jamie Foster-Brown over at s2smagazine.com, LeToya wants you to know that she’s not with Slim Thug anymore, hasn’t been for two years now, and is not dating anyone (or anything close to it).

She also seems to have a new lease on life, saying:

“I’ve sacrificed myself for so much for so long. I’ve always been the person even when things weren’t going right to always be positive. I’ve never stepped on people and always felt like I got stepped on in a lot of situations. So instead of letting that get me down, it’s like you know what, ‘Hey, everything’s gonna be ok.’”

I guess now people are going to say the follow-up to “Not Anymore,” the Tank-produced track “Regret,” is about him.

I Decided She’s Talking About Her

Call it a hunch, but I don’t think Solange cared for LeToya Luckett’s new video. Taking to her Twitter account – which Solange updates constantly - Knowles Two wrote these tweets:

“i remember being n Idaho 4 years ago, pulling out all my old Martha& the Vandellas, Marvelettes and Supremes records, coming up with a vision wanting to create a new age 60’s girls group and modernize it. started working on soul-angel finding 2 girls and watching old shows. this was before amy winehouse so people thought i was truly bugging out. i did i decided wiith the two girls..watched about 25 old shows of all the girl groups and asking my sis to help me come up with moves ( she had just done dreamgirls) worked my but off on references…after i did i decided alot of folks were digging it but alot of folks thought were confused about “the look” now every which a way i turn..everyone is in a 60’s girl group reference. its like traditional r&b again to do the 60’s sound, look ect.”

The reason I connected the dots was that Solange likes to update her tweet almost at the millisecond, and this rant coincidently occurred on the same day LeToya’s video for her first single, “Not Anymore” appeared online.

If I’m wrong for relating to the two (which I doubt), my bad. However, someone should remind Solange she wasn’t the first use the 60s to create a video treatment. I got four words for her: “Doo Wop (That Thing).”

Besides, someone who once said they wanted to be the “Black Bjork” versus simply being shouldn’t speak too much on originality.
