What a survivor! Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins told People magazine that she secretly battled a brain tumor for three years!

Back in 2006, the singer underwent a 7 hour surgery, where the doctor peeled the tumor from her brain stem by making a cut behind her ear, but she kept the experience to herself, even while she participated in Celebrity Apprentice earlier this year.

“I didn’t want pity – I was there to help sick children,” she explained.

That’s a crazy ordeal to go through and keep to yourself, but luckily, T-Boz is a fighter. “I’m still here. It will take way more to stop me,” she said.

Mi Mi is Exceeding Her Own Expectations

Mariah Carey is on the cover of this week’s In Touch Weekly and she reveals that she never thought she’d make it this far.

“I have always been grateful for everything I had, but my personal life was a mess,” she told the magazine. “So many artists just exist for their careers and then burn out quickly.“

As you probably recall the Grammy Award winning songbird did have a breakdown in 2001 and some wondered if it would be the end of her career, apparently Mimi joined that line of thinking.

“Honestly, I never thought I’d live this long. I always thought that I wouldn’t be here at this point. I was thinking, ‘Okay, I’ve got another year of my life left. This has got to be the end of it,’” she said. She attributes husband Nick Cannon to helping her helped her snap out of it. “Finally, he was like, “Stop talking like that.“

Despite her doubts, Mariah, who hit 40 this year, is still in the game! She just came out with a new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel and is starring in the upcoming movie Precious which has already generated awards chatter. It also looks like children are on her mind. Although the magazine ran a cover headline that said “I’m Going to be a Mom” the Cannon’s aren’t expecting just yet, but they’re planning on it. Mariah actually said “I’m going to be a mom, one day” in the article (sneaky editing for the cover!) and Nick revealed “it’s at the forefront of our minds. We’re very close.”

Put Some Clothes on!

Rihanna is known for her edgy outfits but security guards in Venice were not feeling it. The singer was booted from Saint Mark’s Basilica Catholic church because she tried to enter in the skimpy outfit above (guess she thought she was in Venice Beach?) and strict rules require that legs and shoulders must be covered up.  Rhi-Rhi ended up having to make a bootleg outfit out of what looked like two red table clothes so that she could get in. I don’t know what would possess her to enter a church in a bra-bearing, skintight mini dress but I know she has more conservative outfits than that (what happened to the black dress she wore to court during the Chris Brown trial?).  The pope doesn’t play!

Many wondered just how Nick Cannon would respond to Eminem calling his wife a c—t and threatening to destroy her career.

Well, Nick took to Twitter and while he wouldn’t confirm who he was specifically addressing, take a good quess:

I suppose it’s best to let the beef die and let Eminem respond to himself, but when is someone going to call out Marshall for only battling females?

Everyone talks about how hard he goes, yet he only beefs with people like Christina Aguilera – and ya’ll know she’s trill.

And for the people who keep saying Mariah started it, where have ya’ll been the last couple of years when Eminem wouldn’t keep Mimi’s name out of his month?

If you thought Mariah Carey had the last laugh in her drama with Eminem when she released the song and video “Obsessed” think again!   Yesterday the rapper debuted a new song, “The Warning,” and served up some pretty low blows. A sample of the vile lyrics:

“I’m obsessed now? Oh gee, is that supposed to be me in the video with the goatee/ Wow Mariah, I didn’t expect her to go balls out/Bi–h, shut the fu–k up before I put all them phone calls out/ you made to my house when you was wild n out before Nick/When you was on my di–k and give you somethin to smile about”

“How many times you fly to my house? Still trying to count/Better shut your lying mouth if you don’t want Nick finding out….Enough dirt on you to murder you…Mariah, it ever occur to you that I still have pictures?”

Whoa, bitter much Slim Shady?

Mariah and Eminem have been having drama since 2001 when they were rumored to have had a fling and she denied it. Earlier this year he dropped a song, “Bagpipes From Baghdad,” in which he calls her a “whore” and her husband Nick Cannon a “punk” among other things. Nick went to bat for his wife against Eminem on his blog and of course Mariah released ”Obsessed” last month.

We’ve seen beef between rappers, which can be wack enough (ahem, The Game waging war on Jay-Z), but what kind of male rapper goes in on a R&B star, and a woman at that?  How weak!

Meanwhile, an album that you won’t be hearing anytime soon is Lil’ Wayne’s “Rebirth.” The album has been pushed back yet again and the rapper has said he will release the LP when his Young Money label is in order. Looks like we might be waiting awhile for that to happen cause there seems to be drama. According to BlogXilla Wayne’s label  is reneging on its promise to let one of their newest artists, Nicki Minaj, rap and sing because Wayne would rather focus on the singing career of his new girlfriend Shanell, who recently signed with Young Money (and is D. Woods‘ sister, if you care).  Really Wayne?  Didn’t anyone ever tell you not to mix business with pleasure and for the love of latex haven’t you had enough girlfriends this year?

In other news, Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush’s break up might not have been as peacable as they’re making it seem.  Fox 411 is reporting that the two really broke up becasue Kim was exchanging steamy text messages with Kanye!

“Reggie saw text messages on Kim’s phone from Kanye West and flipped out on her,” a source told FOX411. “The texts referenced a night they hung out, how much fun he had, how hot Kim was, and more racy things that got Reggie’s imagination running.”

I’m not sure how much I believe this, but hey, stranger things have happened!

Mariah Carey has been getting chopped up in certain online circles for her performance of the Jackson 5 hit that she herself became famous for singing with collaborator Trey Lorez.

It seems many felt she failed to live up to previous vocal performances as the two performed “I’ll Be There” at the Michael Jackson memorial.

I suppose Mimi is aware of this, and has since taken to Twitter to apologize.

She tweeted:

“Just recovering from the day. Still filled w/sadness as we listen to KJLH in LA (Stevie Wonder’s radio station) paying tribute to MJ.

Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me.

One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people he inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts.”

Honestly, that was one of the better live performances I’ve seen from her in a while. She can’t hit the same high notes as she used to, but if she sings from her lower register, she sounds fine to me.

Besides, it’s better than half the goat-sounding R&B singers out now.

If you weren’t convinced that Mimi was trashing Eminem in her new single, “Obsessed,” how’s this for proof?

Am I the only one happy Mariah is doing this? Yeah, beef is lame most of the time, but Eminem’s been taking stabs at her and others for years.  Plus, Em has done just about as much drag as RuPaul, it’s about time someone got their drag game on.  I’m loving the look — she looks straight from the trailer park.  Hopefully, MC can be a guest on next season’s RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Living and up and coming legends graced the red carpet like Jamie Foxx, who stepped out of his car that knocked over security and the barricades! Jamie looked dapper as usual, signed autographs.  Unlike Mariah Carey, (who arrived sans Nick) who snapped at an innocent bystander for stepping on her dress before sauntering in. Diva! Mimi looked great in her plunging black Roberto Cavalli gown though (the designer was also in attendance), so I can’t even hate.

Inside, comedian Paul Mooney stole my seat, but I’m never one for making a scene so I snagged a better placement (take that Paul!) just in time for former Showtime at the Apollo host Steve Harvey to start the show.

Jamie Foxx had the audience dying laughing with impersonations of Bill Cosby, Gayle King, Patti LaBelle (who were all in the audience), President Obama, Prince and of course Ray Charles, as he brought out Quincy Jones to be inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame. Also, Phylicia Rashad presented Bill and Camille Cosby with a “Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis Humanitarian Award” (Ruby was in the house!).

One of the craziest moments of the night came courtesy of Fantasia who acted a plum fool during her performance of Aretha Franklin’s “Rock Steady,” Chaka Khan’s “Tell me Something Good” and Prince’s “Purple Rain.” Girlfriend was running through the isles bare foot (get your girl!) in a slinky sequined dress, wailing from the soul while she patted her bobbed weave. I swear she caught the Holy Ghost while she had the audience singing Prince’s popular hit! She ran by me flailing her arms and making the scariest faces I’ve ever seen before her people had to grab her and drag her off the scene. Yikes!

I didn’t think the night could get any better, but all of the sudden Prince took the stage!  The audience fell out as the Symbol Man (who looked like music’s fairy godmother in a peach suit, bedazzled cane and those platforms!) brought out Mariah and the two presented Patti LaBelle, who was also inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame. Steve Harvey joked about being a grown man ready to cry at the sight of Prince and I felt him! I thought I was going to make the 11 o’clock news for jumping that man, but luckily for all parties involved he dipped shortly after he and Mariah (who was extra dramatic during her speech with tears and all, but she’s Patti’s god daughter thought so, again, I excuse her antics) left the stage.

The O-Jays ended the night rocking the crowd with a medley of their hit tracks while busting out the smooth moves that they’re known for in sparkly suits. I bet they never had to deal with Day 26-style bitchassness, but then again that was a different time.

After the party was the after party, which was a wonderful production of drinks, food, dancing and people for days in a chandler-lit mega tent. I spotted Doug E. Fresh looking like he was getting his mack on with a few PYTs and I’m pretty sure LeBron James was in the house, though I’ll have to admit my attention was focused on all the other giants in the room.

It was an amazing night and an honor to bear witness to the strengths and talents of my people. Congratulations on 75 years strong Apollo Theatre!

In more give-me-a-break news, Spencer Pratt, the I’m-famous-for-being-in-a-pretend-marriage-with-a-reality-star guy, calls his “wife” Heidi Montag the “white Beyonce.” In a blog interview, he says that he’ll be bigger than Diddy, while Heidi is a much more talented singer than Beyonce.

Spencer tells Complex, he’s the “white Jay-Z,” while Heidi is “a little bit more than the white Beyonce. Beyonce had to be built by a group like Destiny’s Child, but Heidi shines solo. I’ll actually give you an exclusive: I could guarantee you Speidi’s [Spencer and Heidi’s] ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ version is going to stunt on Jay and B’s version.”

Boy, sit down.

Ah, yes. I remember this rumor quite well. Brothas were upset when the streets heard that Rihanna was dating Shia Lebeouf. In an interview with Playboy magazine, he talks about how there was only one date, no chemistry, but the two remain friends.

He says he was stunned when she tried to get in touch with him. “(I was) filming a sword fight when I got the message. I said to myself ‘Can this be my life’” he said.

They set up a dinner date, but “it never got beyond one date. The spark wasn’t there. We weren’t passionate about each other in that way, so we remain friends.”

Oh well.

Maybe, baby?

OK, so maybe it’s time to let the whole is she or is she not pregant thing go with Mariah Carey. Ever since she and Nick Cannon said “I do,” folks have been trying to put a baby in her belly. Now that her new movie “Push” has premiered at Cannes and is getting all types of crazy-good-buzz (”Glitter,” what?), folks are looking at her abdominals a little carefully.

Let’s back away from the EPT and let them announce to us when they’re with child, shall we?

With Eminem seemingly more attached to Mariah Carey than her own bra strap, I can’t be mad at Nick Cannon for defending his wife.

On the track, “Bagpipes from Baghdad,” Eminem pretends it’s still 2001 and takes shots at both Mariah and her husband.

Though Mimi herself hasn’t responded, her husband has hit back at Slim Shady.

On his blog, Nick pointed out how some forget Mariah has the same racial makeup as Barack Obama, and proceeded to accuse Em of being both a punk and a racist:

Calling my wife a “c-nt” and a “whore” is way worse than anything Don Imus could have ever said. So trust, repercussions will be served. Anybody got Al Sharpton’s number?! LOL

Let’s not forget about Eminem’s amateur mixtape rants of calling African Americans N–ger and how he hates “Black B–ches”. How did we let him get away with that in the first place?! He is a natural born racist in disguise. Someone tell this coward that he finally barked up the wrong tree. For his entire career he strategically only tried to beef with people he could bully. I mean, what real man picks fights with women? Real MC’s battle other real MC’s. Ask Nas, ask Jay Z, you didn’t see them starting beefs with women! That is truly some punk s–t!

My thing is we know what Nick has been up to, and Mariah moved on a long time ago. Why hasn’t Eminem?

It’s got to be real, right?

Last night, Nick Cannon pulled off a touching tribute to wifey Mariah Carey in Las Vegas.

The twosome celebrated one year of booed-up-ness at the Palms Casino Resort, where Cannon told the crowd at Moon Nightclub: “It’s a very special occasion; toast to everyone.”

Carey and Cannon, who was DJ’ing that night, celebrated the anniversary with a club full of folks, a break away from the super private nuptials they pulled off last year.

The couple dined in a private room at Simon beforehand.

Good Girl Gone Better?

Now I’m only guessing, of course, but could it be that Rihanna and Jay-Z are planning her much-anticipated come back after The Incident? Maybe. They dined together Thursday night at popular Hollywood hot spot Katsuya — great sushi, true that, but it’s the kind of place you go when you want to be seen on the scene — and the shutterbugs caught them leaving the spot — Jay came out the front, Ri-Ri exited the back way.

Give me a break. Lay off First Lady Michelle Obama for rocking a pair of $540 shoes to the foodbank the other day. Um, did you peep Mrs. O’s tax returns? She got her own.
